Got my first coyote with a bow on the ground last night at 3 yards away wareing my ghullie suit. I was back against a huge maple tree and she came down the trail hunting then at about 20 yards she cut into the tall grass and came right at me and at 3 yards she stopped to look back and by then it was to late for her. I never recoved her till this AM because their was a real good buck in the bean field about 50 yards away and I did not want to spook him looking for the coyote I just snuck away at dark down the creek bed. She went about 60 yards after the shot and was easy to find this morning in the corn.

Awesome shooting Doug!
Way to keep the wind in your face!
Shoot straight, Shinken

Congrats! I missed one yesterday that busted through some turkey I was watching.
VERY NICE! I get busted by them wary critters every time. I think they feel my heart beat
wow very cool. thats a very close shot too. way to keep your cool, ruddy
Great Job. I'm a coyote hunter but it's always been with my .223 Baikal. Once the weather cools down here in AZ I'll be trying with homemade equipment.
Was it hard to not spook him with the draw? That's the only thing I'm worried bout.
Nate
Doug that is just great. :clapper: :clapper:
Congrats on a nice yote!
Good Job Doug !!!!!!!!!
Awesome!
That's a great photo! Way to keep cool to make that shot. Nice shooting, congrats!
Great accomplishment!! Coyotes have the will to live and don't die easy. Last coyote I shot only gave me a head shot as it peeked from beneath a log. I tracked and tracked that coyote for at least a half mile. The BH had plowed a complete clean path from the top of her head, down thru the bridge between eyes removing the right eye and complete rt side of her face. I had just missed the brain by a hair. It was a gruesome site. I still don't know how the animal could have survived for more than a few seconds.
Congrats!!!!!
Not to rain on your party but that is not a coyote on the ground. Looks like a coyote dancing on the ceiling to me. Great job!!!! :clapper: :biglaugh:
Nice yote! Where are your leaf sleeves for your bow?
Saweet! That is a trophy indeed! Congrats
3yds on the ground how cool is that? Way cool
That's just plain awesome!
I feel that you fully reach bowhunter elite status when you can take a coyote with a bow, and traditional tackle no less! :saywhat:
Of all the critters out there, coyotes have it all. The eyes of a turkey, the nose of a bloodhound, the ears of a deer, and the brain of a highly trained search and rescue dog. So many variables have to go exactly right to take a coyote with a traditional bow and it sounds like you executed it perfectly! :notworthy:
Awsome! I got 1 nearly 10 years ago with a compound. I had it tanned and it looks cool hanging on the wall. If that was mine, and I got it like you did, I'd mount it for sure! Probably howling, i like that pose.
Great dog and good hunting.
Way to go Doug.I have killed plenty with guns and wheels but still trying with my stick. Congrads
That's awesome Doug!
 Congrats! Makes up for the one I missed this morning I guess.
Great job. Coyotes are just tough. 3 yards is incredible. :scared:
AWESOME! How cool is that?!
But where's a pic of the leaf suit?!
That is a great photo of a great prize. Nice shooting.
:clapper: :clapper: way to go Doug
Coyotes are great trad trophys, not easily come by, nice job!

Congrats!!!! They are extremely difficult to take with Traditional equipment, let alone from the ground.
I have taken one with a recurve from a tree stand and missed several.
Congratulations!

Now, that's a good dog! The only good (wild) dog...
Great traditional archery kill. Bunch of us will take deer this season with our trad gear, but few cayotes will be taken. That is a trophy in my book. Congratulations on a job well done.
Way to put the hurt on that yote Doug!
Now that is a trophy to be proud of!! Great job!!
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! I get worked up over the chance to shoot at those yotes :clapper:
Great Job!
Way to go, those things are the hardest thing I've ever hunted.
Good job to get a shot off at that distance!!
Cool!
Well done! You probably saved a few fawns.
Good work!!! You have probably saved a few deer for bowhunting instead of coyote fodder!!!
Nice Dog, great story. Three yard shot must have got your heart pumping. I need to look into a ghullie suit, good luck chasing that buck in the bean field.
Hard core, guess that ghillie suit really works .
That is cool, at 3 yds, man that is close!
Doug, that is way cool.
John
Awesome Congratulations :clapper:
