If you have, what can you tell me about it?
Thanks,

Looks real interesting Terry, kinda expensive, but I think I might try one!
-
Terry I have not used that particular make, but my dad, my cousin, and I have used those backpack beach chairs for years. That one looks better than the beach chairs because it has no arms. A chair like that is the ticket for hunting on the ground in natural blinds.
-
That looks kinda neat,a bit pricey but good stuff is most times. May deserve a bit more investigation......
-
I own one of the seats, but I have not used it very much. The concept is awesome and the seat is comfortable. I have read in a few of Joebuck's posts that he uses one for turkey hunting, and maybe Biggie too??
-
Well I'll just be damned. Terry I have gone 2 months with out spending one dime on hunting. I guess that will now come to an end.
-

If it'll hold Biggie then it outta be safe for me. :biglaugh:

Just looking at it up top, two things I noticed about it from the pix flashing...
The bar across the front of the seat loox like it will cut off a persons circulation. Or force you to sit with your legs pretty far apart.
The back of the seat looks like it sits too far back.
Just what I've observed from the pix....
-
You have to lean forward to shoot out of any seat that rest against a tree so your draw elbow will not hit the back of the tree. It appears the seat sits too far back because David is leaning forward to draw.......
circulation is not a problem since the majority of weight is distributed on your buttocks...I have sat for 6 to 8 hours ( well I slept some too) and it's that comfortable
Good questions Guru but no problems. David made the first ones out of Alaskan pack frames. I took his dimensions and made my own. I have been in mine for 15 years. It has a a lot of frequent flyer miles
-
Excellent...Thanx Joey  :clapper:
-
Best money I ever spent on a seat, bar none. If you like to hunt on the ground, you will not be disappointed!! Jason
-
I'm not good with knots but I would give it a try!
;) :p
-
My Buddy Chris has one about like that if not the same. I sat in it once and could easily make a morning Turkey hunt in one.It was comfy and could be put most anywhere.RC
-
I looked at the written material but never found how much it weighed. Can someone enlighten me?
There's about 50 dollars difference between the cost of the Huntmore and the PacSeat.
Not a truly significant amount when I am trying to evaluate which is going to do the best job of supporting my back.
I wish we could find someone to do an actual use comparison...hint-hint Pete Ward like persons.
God bless,Mudd
-
I would be glad to to a comparison.....the Hunt More guy and I were gonna make a deal but he was out of chairs the last time I talked to him.
I would also like to get one of these for the packablilty.
-
I have been using something called the hunters seat. I just googled hunter seat and found it. I believe it was 40 dollars. Its great. Light weight. Easy to sling over your shoulder and still be able to draw if the sitiation arises. I will admit tho that pac seat looks a little more comfortable...
-
I'm ghillie suiting up this fall for deer, and I'm gonna need a good seat.....so I really would like to test both....and I can see a use for both. One for closer hunts and one that is packable.
-
I hear you on the Ghillie suit.I have been thinking about going "ground only" for a couple of years now. Would`nt hurt me on pork but would be challanging on these Southern deer but I`m up for it. What really sparked my near commitment was yesterday when I was almost a mile in the swamp with a climber on my back and went by a place I killed a deer from the ground 4-5 years ago.I stopped and took the stand off and sat on a log...sweat running dowm my face and had a great recall of the deer killing. Then looked at the climber and all the other junk I had with me and thought.. your an idiot...RC

I can't tell you how many times I thought the same thing Robert. :)

This looks very interesting!

tsk tsk tsk - Mike Mitchell (a.k.a. - SquirrelBait around here) was making those back a few years ago - looks like someone beat him to the mass market.... - glad I own "an original"..

Somehow I missed this one....
Yep...from just looking at the pics....read the info Curt, and you will find that's not the case.
I'm getting one of these.....never heard back from Hunt More.

You know I am thinking the same thing.....

BobW, Guys I don't make them anymore. And Dave Waldrop was the inventor of the seat. I'm glad to see Mr. Dave making something off his chair. I just did not have the time to build them. Mike Mitchum
-
Regarding the weight of the seat - I e-mailed Teresa Asbell two or three days ago asking that exact question. She says it weighs 4 pounds and 12 ounces.

Has anyone talked to G. Fred about this product? I to have given up on the "Huntsmore". To many issues/questions unanswered for the money. I'll make do this year with my Double Bull "Magnum".
-
The PacSeat looks really nice and functionable. But I just can't bring myself to spend that sorta money on a hunting seat.
-
It's a high quality seat, if you want to save money, carry a 5 gallon bucket. If you want a fine piece of hunting equipment that you can hand down to your kids, this seat is the best.
You will see the craftsmanship when you hold one in your hands or feel one under your cheeks 8-)

Yep you get what you pay for
-
I don't know what it weighs but I have one of those three legged stools that can spin 360*, sat most of the day on Saturday, very comfortable.
-
Any comparisons to the Magnus RackPack?

I am leaning towards the Waldrop PacSeat, but the Magnus is of similar design and looks promising as well. Would love y'all's thoughts. Thanks!

I don't know about the Waldrop Pacseat, but at our latest Michigan Longbow Association council meeting one of our members brought his Huntmore seat to sit on, and it kept making a squeaking noise when he moved...not good for a hunting seat, especially for that kind of money. It could have been a fluke with his particular chair, but...
-
I've tried one and did not find it all that comfortable myself. Being that 99% of the time I have a pack or fanny pack on already, the pack feature is not of much use to me.
-
I was worried about the max weight capacity but since Biggie endorsed it I guess I'll call GFA to order one. Should work great with my Ghillie and surely will be used during Turkey season. It's been almost 3 weeks since I spent any money on hunting stuff and I was feeling the withdrawal pangs.
-
Ordering it today....and I will find out more about it as I WILL be using it a lot with my guillie.
-
Terry, when it comes ,give us your opinion right out of the box. Quality ,weight and such. I'd like to know your first thoughts on the seat. Thanks.. ron w
-
For those concerned, the seat is adjustable by tightening or letting out the lacings. It's amazing how much an inch of lacing can make a big difference in how it sits.
-
I apologize for the grammar on the last post....maybe I need to go back and repeat 6th grade?
-
I guess I'll have to back also....it sounds fine to me........ :dunno:
-
I sat on a wet log the otherday. Not comfy, Not adjustable, and Not in the right spot. I may need to look at this also.
Chuck
-
Will do Ron.
BTW...Teresa told me when I called that they have sold a bunch since that banner went up....and they sold 6 the 1st day it went up. Mr. Waldrop is thrilled....and they said Thanks!
-
Looking to get one myself. Waiting on your test run T.RC
-
If Biggie says its good, thats good enough, for me!
JAG

I have one that is an older model that will not stand on its own--You have to lean it up against something. I don't know how much it weighs but it can't be much over 3 lbs--It is quiet and I have not had any problems with it cutting circulation off.
I bought mine from Big Jim at a shoot a couple of years ago. Money well spent in my opinion...
Rick
-
I got mine on Monday. In my tests I have found no issues. It is very light and packs nicely. If you lean forward like the instructions tell you the seat will follow. It's easy to shoot from if positioned corectly. Going to give it a real dirt test this weekend.
And if Biggie likes it then it must be edible as well!
-
I ordered mine on the 1st so mine should be here anyday. I'll be giving it a good run this season.
-
Sure thing Robert.....like you, I'm going to really enjoy the guillie this season...and I thing this will be the ticket for when you need to sit a spell.
-
I look forward to reading more about other's feedback, am especially interested
in hearing about how well the seat offers lower back support!!!!!!! Thanks
-
Just got mine and 1st impression was how well built it is....very solid construction. Sit's real well also...very comfortable...and like said above when you lean forward the seat follows and gives a very solid platform. Will give it a field test after work. Have wanted a seat like this since seeing Joey's seat from his turkey hunt pic's.
-
VERY comfortable. I have lower back issues and the seat really supports my back. I envision many hours comfortably reading while waiting for Bambi to drop by.

Fellers I borrowed one from a friend. Its an earlier model I guess that has to be leaned against a tree and I must say its the most comforable hunting seat I`ve sat in. I thing it will help me a lot ground hunting because if I`m comforable I can sit still and for a longer time.RC
-
Just got mine in and haven't had time to play with it much. I will say that if used as a pack for heavy weights the straps will kill you. All webbing and no padding at all. I bought mine for a seat so that is fine. Very well made and 4# 14oz on my scale.
-
The legs seem like those that I have had sink into the ground; is there a bigger 'foot' to the seat that is available : or just a market for them ?
I have had other seats sink in all kinds of duff; and it can prevent you from making a shot.
I took a deer from a camp chair with no arms on it this year- it is neat to hunt from the ground. I like the ability to get up and move if the game doesn't move in close enough....
-
Brian....it says in the info about using tennis balls to prevent sinking....and that he just leaves them on all the time.
-
I like the looks of the GFA seat, might try the ghillie option too. Gotta cool off tho, skeeters on the ground are terrible right now where I hunt.
-
Hey Terry, What kind of ghillie are you using? And did you have to do any trimming to get clearance for the bowstring--I'm thinking Pictures are in order...
Rick
-
Here is what I did to allow me to use the chair and carry in my gear. I found a Remington shoulder bag at Wal-Mart for $16 and bought a couple of caribiners. Fits perfect and attaches through the gromets on each side at the top of the seat and the shoulder strap hooks on the bag. No mods needed to anything. When you get where you are going you can unhook the bag if you want to hunt without the chair.

-
Rick....I'm using the rancho safari....and yes...you have to clip the bow arm and chest on the bow arm side.....AND, you might have to clip the hat a bit if you cant the bow.
Ringneck....that's a neat set up.
-
Mine came yesterday. I immediately took it outside set it up against a tree and sat down. My first thought was "where have you been all my life". This seat is great and for tuekeys this spring "I can't wait". Shooting from any position is no problem.
-
Sorry I should have proof read before posting TURKEYS
-
I have last years model(no stand-alone feature) and it weighs 4#,2oz complete with tennis balls on the front legs. So far I've used it during turkey season and I agree with all the praise. Very well built and well thought out design. Compared to the weight and cost of any tree stand, you can appreciate the value and versatility this offers. The new stand-alone design has to be even more versatile.
-
I want to understand how this is used.
Am I correct in that if you are leaning against a tree only the front two legs are on the ground and the back legs are folded up to the top of the back.
But if your out from it or just sitting in brush you use the back legs like any other chair?
Thanks!
God bless,Mudd
-
yep, just like the pics show...
-
Is the seat about the right hight for use out of a pop-up ground blind?
-
Your rear is going to be about 10-12" off the ground. Might be a little low for the pop up.
