Title: Traditional BH Q:
Post by: Sc0 on September 29, 2010, 03:07:00 PM
I accidently ordered some Magnus traditional broadheads and am wondering if I should use the glue-glue inserts or put them to the side and order the proper threaded broadheads?

Arrows are a new batch of GT 3555 Exp Hunters and have not tuned them to the bow.  The BH's are 125gr and I have some 125gr field tips as well... The insert weight, if needed, will be determined by bare shaft testing.

Bow is a Hoyt GM2, 50lb at 28" and also have a set of 45lb BM med carbon limbs for it.

Threaded inserts work and tou should just use then. you can get them in steel and brass I think.

James,I personally like to buy the glue ons. They give you the possibility of more weight variations. You may find that you need more head weight than anticipated. With a glue on,you can use aluminum adapters or 3 different weight steel adapters. You can even fine tune the weight by adding lead birdshot, inside the ferrule, ahead of the adapter.

I also like to orient all my broadheads the same on each shaft so I can do this when glueing the adapter though you can also doit it with the insert. You do have to make sure the broadhead tips are perfectly aligned to spin true.
