Two weekends ago we skinned and boned out a little spike. We wired the carcass to a big stump and put a game cam on it to see what would come.
A week later there were 655 pics. Four of a coyote who showed up too late and the rest turkey buzzards. This was an open spot in a 3 mile patch of big timber. Took them 24 hrs to find it.

After that they stayed till dark and were on it at first light. I bet they roosted above it.

They picked it CLEAN! There was not a patch of hide, hair or meat left on it.

Great pictures, thanks for sharing
neat pictures!
Cool! I'm just glad it wasn't a "hit and lost" deer.
You're idea was a good one though.
I think it's a great reminder about how the bottom end of the food chain fares.
Thank you for sharing.
God bless,Mudd
Man, I gotta quit nappin in the woods!! :scared:
How ya been John?
that's real cool...
Been good, Kenny. Gettin up to Kirksville less each year it seems but hope to make it up that way this year.
I can tell you Mudd, the lower half of the food chain eats very well, especially along active railroad lines.
They are so thick down here that I've had them on the gut pile within one hour, more than once.
I've always admired how in nature nothing goes to waste & most of Gods creatures are taken care of.
Thanks for some great pictures.
Around the area I work they gather in the morning and they number about 50 strong and its neat to see. When they are threatened they projectile vomit at you. I had to help a warden catch a wounded one once. They are ugly to.
very nice pics- they are one ugly bird IMO
Cool pics. And a very interesting bird. They certainly are unique.
Very cool!
Cool pics John, and as the Outlaw Josey Wales said: "Buzzards gotta eat, same as worms" ...
