Title: Martin Savanna
Post by: Blaino on September 28, 2010, 10:51:00 AM
I'm in search of a new bow for next year... I like the look of the Savanna but I'm not sure about the length (62")with my 30" draw.  It also has a big price tag for a production bow.  Your thoughts....

It's a fine bow.  I think I would look for a used one for around $300 if I were you.

You could probably add around 3# per inch of draw, maybe close to 61# at your draw length.I think they are a sweet bow,I bought mine new years ago when they first came out.And I still have and shoot it,I like Martin/Howatt bows.Sometimes you can get a great buy on them on the big auction site. But like said you can get great buys on used ones also.I have a buddy with a 30" draw and he shot mine and said it was a smooth draw for him. They are fairly high R/D which seems to help for a longer draw. Are there any at a shop close to you that you can shoot one and see how you like it?

the only other person around me that i know that shoots trad it Owen Jeffery.  Maybe you have heard of him. anyways he is getting way up in age and the Dr. won't let him hunt anymore.  Their shop has become nothing but compounds and expandables with a rack in the corner with a few of the recurves Mr. Owen makes.  other then that I'm the crazy guy without sites....
