Title: First doe with a traditional bow
Post by: Henry Hammer on September 27, 2010, 10:50:00 PM
My friend Chris got this nice MN doe on sunday night. We both have had close calls for the last two years trying to get our first kill with traditional bows. He now has the monkey off his back and now it is my turn I hope. He was shooting a 1970's Bear super magnum 48" 45#@28 bow that I got from PapaFrank. His 55/60 cedar arrow shafts came from a trade I made here on TG. They were finished by our friend Mike and tipped with classic Bear razorheads. He got her at less than ten yards from the base of his tree. The arrow entered behind the rib cage and angled forward through the center of her heart and came out the bottom of her brisket. He has a very long draw so his arrows are over 31 inches long total length and it was buried up to the feathers. Here is a picture of him and the family celebrating in his harvest! Thanks for looking and good luck to all this fall..Henry

Nice fat deer. Is it me or have I not been on here for a hunting season in a while. But the harvest rate seems to be climbing quickly on elk and deer early. Wish I could get in woods this year.
