The ODNR says we have hogs. A guy who knew a guy says he has seen hogs. I've never seen one but then again I guess I haven't really hunted them.
The rumor is that they are in Vinton county. Not sure if they are in Wayne Natl Forest or not - might be a place to explore.
thanks guys,i check the website.they have a map of the countys where hogs have been spotted.i wanted to hear if you guys have personally seen or killed one.thanks for the feedback, steve
so far a lot more hog talk then hogs in Ohio (thankfully) I have seen one that was killed and know of a farm where a few more were killed. I have not personally seen one or any trail cam pics of any.
i have never seen one.i sometimes hunt hueston woods out in oxford.they claim there are hogs there and have a shoot on site policy.like i said,i've never seen one.i never seen sign of where they have been.maybe i haven't looked hard enough, steve
I have not seen or killed one but I do work with a guy who has. Actually a few guys who have seen and killed hogs. Gallia, Vinton and Athens county.
thanks buckeye.i work with a few guys from there.maybe i can weasel my way into a hunt with them.i have no private land to hunt on,steve
Check out the squirrel hunt thread! I have heard of hogs in the area. they may have been talking about deer or squirrels but. I here the word hogs come up allot!
I have heard of hogs being on Ohio but have never confirmed it. I lived there for most of my life, about 35 years or so and almost all of my buds were hunters. Never heard any of them talk about actually seeing one or having direct knowledge of them being there. Every time I talked to a DNR guy they told me the state wants them GONE. They DO NOT want hogs getting established in Ohio...PERIOD.
As for hunting land, that's the least of your worries in southern Ohio. Darn near the entire southern part of the state is state owned land. Check out Wayne National Forest. You can literally go there and hunt and get yourself lost or never see another hunter that is unless you are there during shotgun season then it's like you just landed in an armed encampment.

thanks guys.i'm going to check out wayne national forest this year, steve
Steve, you live in my neck of the woods.go out to lake hope sp.there is a ranger station in front of the lake on rt 278 (i think) on the bulletin board out front. there is a pic of a hog that was taken during gun season.there is also a store back down the road a mile that is a check in station yhat has more pics.good luck its a big area.
Take the never see another hunter thing with a grain of salt, I live in the south part of the state and starting in late Oct, i see a lot of non residents in the area, most of the state land has hunters, but there are a lot of acres.
i am going to try and find some private land to hunt this year.i have a guy at work that lives in hillsboro that said i can come down to his place.alot of big deer down there.i used to hunt mead paper and the pipeline when i was a youngster.saw alot of monsters, but i was young and didn't know what i was doing, steve
