I can tell by the "sparring" going on in some of the threads!
I don't know if it holds true for you guys, but I find myself letting go of a whole year's problems during archery season.
Soon brothers...soon.
I know I need to go hunting but my main deer and elk season is over. :( I know my wife sends me to the hills when I get grumpy, she says she see's a differance in me.
My wife just tells me that she want's me out of the house.
I have a new job this year that has a whole new level of stress. I can't wait to get out in the woods with the cool air and some quiet time. I actually counted the days yesterday. Going to move some stands and set my blind today. I hope evryone has a great season!
Last time I was up in those mountains was during The Muzzy Shoot. Next will be archery season... Can't come soon enough for me.
... mike ... :archer2: ...
I can tell you that even if you can't hunt yet that just getting out and shooting some whether it's stumping, in the back yard or on a range it is like applying salve... just so very soothing to my spirit.
But as soon as the opportunity comes.. I say hit the woods!!
God bless,Mudd
I'm beyond ready
Oct. 18th. Seems a long way off right now.
I've been recharging my batteries since September 4th when our season started. I'll open the Indiana season this coming Friday also.
This morning the moon was so bright, not only were there moon shadows, I had to adjust the bill of my hat to keep the moonlight out of my eyes. I've never had to do that since I started bowhunting in 1969.
The little things make me very thankful for those 6 days of labor our Creator spent ...In the beginning...
I am also opening the Indiana season on Friday. Bought my license on line last night and am readying stuff now! Shawn
Good luck Shawn. Hope you guys do well.
I may have to set aside some time for chasing small game and setting treestands. With everything going on lately, it is hard to find time.
Im glad to see the woods do the same for others.
the woods recharge my life battery! it is a special place for sure brother.
I am SO needing this season.
Tons of stuff going on, none of it good, and it seems that I am wishing my life away, week by week, wishing it were Sunday so that I can do what I want.
No hunting on Sunday, here.
Today I went to the supervisor to be sure that my leave, which I had set up in May, was still on the books.
Big clusterpluck. He said I was on the "waiting list" for the Saturday of Columbus Day weekend, my first taste of my hunting woods. I showed him a copy of my leave request, with my dated signature. The supervisor at that time had not signed this copy. I knew that a signed copy should be in the leave book, but the man could not find it. Also on this sheet, was an unsigned request for leave for my three weeks in the woods in late October, so I was spitting bricks. Starting to cry a little.
I searched my locker and found the signed forms.
I would not have to climb the Tower after all.
Killing game is good. Not a requisite to me, but very good, a sign of inclusion on the grandest scale there is. The whole of the cosmos accepts me and I take my sacrament.
Being in the woods is necessary. I want to be somewhere where I do not see anybody, I do not want to even see anything that a human has made.
I need the time wherein I can decide what I want to do, need to do, and do it. No boss, no familial or social obligations, just me being mindful of the workings of the Earth and its time, and doing what feels right within those rhythms.
Right now, I find it hard to concentrate, be polite, be accurate in my work. I guess I am a bit burned out.
Yes.
I need to go hunting.
Killdeer
This morning my wife ask when bow season starts.
Told her today. But I didn't draw any permits for opening weekend and no private land to hunt this year, in Florida.
She then asked when I would be going, I said Tuesday afternoon will be the first chance to go.
She looked at me and said, "Make sure you go Tuesday, You've been under a lot of stress this year and I can tell you need to kill something. Please go hunting before you do."
Knew I was getting really short and testy lately but didn't think it was that bad.
Guess I REALLY need to hit the swamps.
I have been spending as much time in the fresh air as possible. I already counted coupe on some deer, whilest squirrel hunting.
Good luck everyone. Hope to see some of you neighbors soon.
Just being able to shoot an arrow after a recent injury that tore off all but the nerves and tendons on my dominate thumb is a blessing! I am SO GRATEFUL to be able to type this!!!!!
Be careful out there and BE GRATEFUL every day!
The season can be about a lot more than taking an animal.Good luck to everyone here in whatever you pursue.
