I just got some of the gasket lauquer and gaskets. All it does it squeegee the sealer right back off. I must have done 10 coats on one shaft and it looks like I never did anything to it.....my fuse is quite short right now. I had to hand sand ALL the shafts back down again. The stain is compatiable. Please tell me what Im doing wrong. Thanks a million
Chris, I understand a bit of frustration if you've applied 10 coats and have nothing. Let's solve this. If you want, I am around tonight and could answer the phone.
First question, did you thin the gasket lacquer or use it as is? Never thin it more than %10 or so. You want it to be pretty thick to start with.
Larry
It was very, very thick when I started so I added a tbsn as you suggested, maybe a touch less? It just seems to not "stick" at all? There were some scattered areas that looked great, very scattered. I ended up taking 200 grit sand paper to the shafts and got them back to raw. AWESOME shafts by the way, best I have ever purchased.
I sand with 180 because i don't want them too smooth. Also, is the bevel side down? The bevel on the gasket should be on the bottom side when you put it on the dip tube, so that you can't see it while dipping.
I sent you a PM Larry.
