Title: Sitka hunt in Alaska?
Post by: J. Cook on September 23, 2010, 09:05:00 AM
Anyone done a good Sitka hunt in Alaska -- especially self guided?  I'm really leaning hard toward doing one of the boat trips to Kodiak; where you charter a house boat, live on it in the bay, but tehy use a skift to drop you off each morning and pick you up and you hunt completely self guided.  That's an ultimate dream for me.

Anybody done it?  Pics and experiences would be great.  Also, any idea of total cost -- from experience?

Thanks fellas!

I went to POW with 'onions' last month.e did that with Pow-bow so not sure if it qualifies as on our own for you. We flew from Michigan to Ketchican, ferried to POW, then took a private boat to our final destination. We anchored in a protected spot and proceeded to climb a grueling course to the alpine. We set up a camp there. The quality of the hunt was awesome! Not for just any one thought TOUGH GOING. My total cost was around 1,700. from door to door. Well worth every penny. See our pics posted earlier in another thread. Good Hunting
