What bowyers make three-piece face-mounted takedowns?
Black Widow is one.
Grouse
Black Widow, Black Swan, Jack Kempf, Habu
In addition to those listed above Apex Predator bows and Eagle Wing Archery are making bows with belly mounted limbs.
Does Jack Kempf have a website? I never have found it...maybe it's better that I don't.
Apex Predator and Eagle Wing Archery were two that I weren't aware of. Also, Whisperstyk makes one. Are there any more?
You mean belly mounted? Correct? Yes all the ones mentioned. Shawn
Yes, belly mounted bows.
Hill Country Bows (Roman Hershberger, bowyer) makes a nice 3 pc. TD longbow with belly mounted limbs called the Wildcat.
Roman does some really nice work.
Whisperstik Kajikastik.

I shot the new version of this bow a few weeks ago. It has a little different riser than some I have seen. It also has two bolts per limb. It is a very nice bow and high on my watch list.
The Kajika is also a good one in a curve. I like the PCH also.
Hey Rank Bull, Kempf doesn't have a website but here is a Kwyk Styk 56" 55@28 I recieved in May from Jack.
One fine shooting bow, without a doubt the smoothest most forgiving bow I have shot in over 25 years of shooting trad bows. Have another due the first of the year. Definitely looking forward to it. I had a couple of these before that shot just as great, but either the grip or the length wasn't what I needed.

Beautiful bow!! There have been many great things posted with regard to Jack Kempf's Kwyk Styk.
Here is the EagleWing. It has that smoothness with a shorter length beacause of the short tight curve. The statics all perfrom well and accomplish an even force draw curve and very little string pinch. They are also inheriently quiter that most recurves. I designed this bow to have the static tip formed in a large amount by geometry which helps keep the physical limb weight down and improve speed. It works. God Bless you all and try a static. You will not regret it. Steve

These pics are killing me, may be time for a new KS!! Shawn
Guru, that bow Shawn used to own looks to me like it's wrong-handed for you.
But it is a very nice looking bow.
Since it is the wrong hand, how much would you have to have to take it off your hands? HaHa
Habu VyperKahn is also face mounted.
Hey Guru,
You going both way's nowadays !!!

What's the reason for having the limbs mounted to the belly of the bow vs mounted to the back? Is it a performance gain or just mainly for looks? These bows pictured here do look really nice.
Thanks
Dave
Lordy Mercy Chris... wasn't thinking how that might sound... OOPS ! :o :D
Those Kwyk Styk's are some good looking bows!
Froggy,
Aside from the faux pas on Guru's penchant for both handed bows, you work it out that you have one on order while you own so so's when your addiction kicks in and you sell the one you got, you've got a "regret net" coming along behind!???
You and Ralph! HOw'd you say, "...at least I keep em long enough to shoot em!" :knothead: :D
Hey Doc,
This one has a permanent address here in "Good Ole Georgia". I am shocked that you would compare my bow trading to Ralph, he is in a totally different zone bud !!. I do imagine the one coming will certainly fit in quite nice with it's sister.. ;)
Froggy
Dbishop,
They are very stable at full draw, and more forgiving.
What Marty said plus the bows are extremely pointable, The comments I have gotten on them are usually along the lines of I have never had a bow that hits exactly where I look like this one does and its so quiet I can't believe it. I would have no problem hunting with it with no silencers at all of any kind. That is on the static now. The standard recurves that are rear mounted usually have a little noise prob unless you go really long on the brace height. The statics are quiet even with a 7 inch brace. God Bless you all and have a wonderful day. Steve
Curt,
I've never seen a KS in person, but from the looks of the photos, I couldn't imaging a better design -- stable and forgiving. Maybe one of these days I'll get my hands on one to try out. Does he set up at any of the shows?
Jason,
Mr Kempf is in Canada. He doesn't get to any of the shows from what I understand, doesn't have a website either. He's old school all the way, won't even take deposit money on orders, he takes names, and when your'e up he calls to see if you still want it, if not he goe's to the next in line. Check with Joe Skipp on here, he sells Kempf's through his shop for Jack. Wish more folks did business like him, sure would simplify things. A man's word is his bond. He is a gentlemen in the truest sense. Pushing 80 years old I think, won't be building forever.... get one while you can !!!
Froggy
I have an old Browning Wasp, shoots great and very inexpensive. No longer in production but I see used ones going for $100-150.
