Title: arrows and broadheads
Post by: oxtail on September 22, 2010, 01:16:00 AM
I am looking for a good crossover in the carbon arrow line for my recurve and compound I'm going to be using the 3 rivers woodsman 125 grain broadheads and I just wanted to know if anyone out there uses carbon arrows with theirs and what spine/ (grains per inch) you would suggest for a 55 pound recurve

That depends on a lot of factors..
Bowyer/brand, draw length, what you are hunting etc..
I suggest using Stu's Spine Calculator as a way of getting 'almost there' then fine tuning them from the results you are given there..

You can find the calc here

As per the Grains per inch (GPI) I would suggest nothing less than 9 Grains per pound (GPP) from your draw length to ensure the bow is not harmed over time..

Victory Archery has some low GPI carbons you can use to give your arrow a lot of FOC-value (Front of Center)
I have used Gold Tip trads and like them
Big Jim carries those..
Trad Only's, carried by 3 Rivers are also good.
Hope you get the way you want  :)
