Title: Ben Pearson Cougar 964
Post by: JamesD on September 21, 2010, 12:50:00 PM
Does anyone know what string length this bow model uses?  I was given a Ben Pearson 964 over the weekend in great working condition.  I beleive the string that came with is the original that was purchased with the bow fifty years ago.  It is only 58 1/2" long and the bow is 64" long.  If anyone knows, please help.

It should use a B50 endless loop string that is 60" long from end of each nock loop.  That's a new string that is unstretched.  What was the brace height with the 58 1/2" string?  That length seems short.  Good luck...Van

I agree with the string length but brace height should be measured from string to the low spot in the grip, where the web of your hand goes.

A 58 1/2" string should give a brace height higher than 7 1/2" which makes me think you are measuring diffently?

What is a "964"?

My first hunting bow as a teen was a 45# Ben Pearson Cougar, but don't remember anything about "964". Just curious, thanx...

I've got a Pearson Cougar... or I should say my wife has a Pearson Cougar. It's a heck of a nice shootin' bow.
