With hunting season rapidly approaching and for others, they are already in the woods, thought I would offer some advice for the "New Trad Bowhunters" this year.
Never stop practicing...even during the hunting season. A common mistake made by most bowhunters is they are in the "hunt" or "kill" mode and fail to keep their shooting skills honed by every day practice. We don't have the luxury of shooting bows with 80% let-off....we need to stay on top of our recurves or longbows during the hunting season.
Find the time to practice...warm up with 6 arrows before you start your hunt, shoot a few arrows during your mid day break...or carry a few judos and stump shoot your way back to your truck or camp. Shooting on a daily basis during your hunting season will keep you sharp when opportunity knocks.
Even the weekend bowhunter can find 30 minutes a night to fling a few arrows and keep in tune. My hunting buddies and I constantly MAKE the time to practice daily during our 2 months of bowhunting. Hope this little bit of advice helps....Keep The Faith....... :campfire:
Thanks Joe, I agree compleatly. Everybody needs reminding once in awhile
Good advice  Thanks for the reminder.
Yep, that's part of the fun; stumping is almost as much fun as shooting at game; well, maybe not. I always carry a judo along.
That is good advice of new and experienced Trad Bowhunters.
Being a fairly new guy myself I will also ad, use the SEARCH function on this site, there is a ton of info and most questions that you have are covered multiple times.
Joe great advice, and thanks for the reminder. :archer2:
Thanks Joe!
Yessir Joe. Good advice.
Great point. When it get too dark to shoot after work a night I still shoot in the barn. I can only shoot about 8-12 yd., but it is still good just to work on form and release.
I couldn't agree more, if nothing else I'll shoot into my basement which gives me 15 yards "if I'm standing in the driveway" or do some blind bale shooting inside & that's if I don't have time to go into the club range just to keep myself in shape for the time in the woods.
Joe that's great advise brutha!!
Skipper great thread there Bud ! :readit: :saywhat: I shoot just about every day during the season! :archer: :goldtooth:
A loud, long AMEN!!!
TTT
Way To Go Joe! That's why you are my hero...
... mike ...
Amazing how quickly it slips. Good advice Joe.

Nicely said Joe. Good advice for all and a great reminder for me. thanks
Great advice! I've blown more than one shot because I didn't follow it. More than 3 or 4 days without shooting and it slips for sure.
Anyone would find it very difficult to beat the advice given here!!
Great job fellas!!
Thank you for the reminder!
God bless,Mudd
A couple of rules that I have learned; is that no matter how old you are- you can still get into bad company.
And the one thing in bowhunting that you can do if you live to be 100: is not practicing enough.
good thread...
I'm new and that's good to hear from an "old hand". Knowing how others go through these things is a BIG help.
Thanks.
You are absolutely right on the money again Joe  :notworthy:
Good advise Joe. Practice in a way that relates to the way you hunt. Standing up straight and pumping arrows at a target at known 20 yrd. distance won't help much if you are hunting from a treestand.
Great advice. I got a bad habit of doing just that n I been bowhunting 45 years so its not just newbys, lol.
The way my hunting has gone the last 2 years I wouldn't have taken a shot from October to January! Thanks for the reminder. I love shooting my bows too much to quit during the season though.
