Title: When is it enough?
Post by: meximike on September 18, 2010, 02:36:00 PM
I made a trade here. Flint knapped Knife for dress arrows back in March. Spoke with the guy I traded with several times on the phone and he always says he is going to get them done , that he is having trouble getting shafts. How long should I wait before I put his name out in open forum about the deal gone bad. He has had the knife for 6 months. I think I have been real patient. Bow season opens here next weekend and no arrows from him yet? Thanks guys MexiMike

Tell him to return the knife...give it a week..if he doesnt return it .. then spread the word about an untrustworthy trading partner

6 months seems long, might contact him and let him know he is forcing some action or send the knife back.

Six months is a long wait...if you can not get the arrows or knife back let admin know before you post his to the site. They will try to help and if nothing else he will be band from Trad Gang and have his name put in the Hall of Shame on the classifieds.

I agree, six months is more than enough time.  He is just hoping you'll go away.  After that amount of time he is either a person of very poor character or extremly lazy and in either case you'll never get your arrows.

I think you should try and contact him. You never know, something may have come up in his life that has forced a lane change, if you know what I mean.

I'd just forget about getting anything from him except your knife. I mean enough is enough and six months is more than reasonable.

My 2 cents worth.

God bless,Mudd

I have had nothing but good experiences as well. I think 6 months is more than enough time. I would also ask him to return the knife. Good luck

Thanks for all the replies. I have had all great dealing with the people here on Trad Gang. The fellow saw my post and contacted me and assured me he would get right on this. I think as one reply mentioned there may have been some LANE CHANGES in this fellows life. Im hoping he will come through for me.
I will try to patient for a little bit longer.. Michael

See, not a lot of people here intentially trying to get people.  Amdinistrators take care of those folks quick.

Sometimes people just hit a few speed bumps and curves which causes life to slow down once in a while.

I think your paitence is respectable.

I do agree that things like this happen but the guy could have had the decentsy to be straight about what was going on.  He didn't have to go into detail if he didn't want but he didn't need to leave someone hanging the way he did.

I just ordered some arrows from a ganger.
He told me he was a bit backed up because he couldn't get any shafts from Hildebrand for quite some time.

Not to defend the guy.
Just a bit of the gossip.

I have delt with alot of people on tradgang, and (knock on wood) have never had a bad deal.
And this is everything from buying/trading bows, arrows, dvds, you name it. I would say that 99 percent of the people on here are above average folks with high morals and values, the kind that give you their word, and it actually means something.
Unfortunately, I believe that six months is way too long for a deal that should have taken no more than a week or two at most.
To make things right... He either needs to return the knife, or produce the arrows he originally was supposed to make for you.  :readit:

He's a deadbeat.  6 months welching on a deal is totally uncalled for.  Book em Danno.

He should be able to make up a dozen arrows in a few days tops with drying and fletching and everything else. You said he would get right on it, tell him he has 10 days to have them to your door, if not ask for the knife back. 2-3 day mail, so 13 days and if nothing by then put his name out there! You have been more than fair!! Shawn
