Well with deer, turkey, and small game season opening tomorrow, I have my goals set for the season. What are yours?
Assist youth on black bear hunt, help wife in her first year of bow hunting, shoot my first deer with a trad bow, shoot a fall turkey. HAVE FUN!!! These are the four goals I have. My wife will be using a compound, but taking someone deer hunting is new for me. I hope she gets one. So far bear hunting, we have passed on 3 bears and have not hunted much due to school and weather. I have been shooting my recurve a lot and feel good out to 20 yards. I don't know if I will carry it 100% of the time, I still like my compound. As far as the turkey goes, it is last, but if one walks by it is in trouble. Good luck and hunt safe.
I simply want to take my first trad deer. A turkey would be nice too though : )
Goals:
Get out in the woods 55 different days during the season. Enjoy nature.
I have several goals this year.
1. Figure out my hunting area a bit better.
2. Get in at least 23 hunts in KY by Oct. 31st
3. Get in at least 9 hunts in IN before the 12th of November.
4. Kill the first deer with traditional since I moved to compounds in 1975.
5. I'd like to fill two tags in KY and one in IN. All with "The Stick".
With just having our first baby, my goal is just to go on one good trip. Family comes first though.
Carl
Have an elk in bow range during the season...
To hunt, be ethical, & enjoy Gods outdoors while carrying my bow.
Frank
To take my first deer, trad or otherwise.
Kill my fist deer with a bow I made.
Since I started making bows a couple years ago, I've only had one shot opportunity and I blew it!
This is gonna be the year
3 Goals:
1. find time to hunt
2. find a place to hunt close by to home
3. not miss when I get a shot
Find enough information to take my first hog hunt sometime in early spring. Cheap, spot and stalk on public land with good numbers of hogs.
To double with Miss Hope & Faith ! We only got 4 days to do it, so it will be tough. Season opens for us on Sept 26th. Gonna be a hot one too ! 94 degrees here tomorrow.
After that, to see Mason get one with his osage selfbow then his new Shrew Classic Hunter he got at Compton this past summer.

Start connecting with the bow on the coyotes. Im in California so just getting a buck in range. Get a snow shoe then i will have a California slam on the rabbits with my bow. Have fun.
My goal is to hunt more this year and try to not let work get in the way like it usually does.
ChuckC
My goal is about like ChuckC's. Spend as much time as possible in the woods and completely forget about work while I'm out there. If I kill something, that will just be a bonus.
Spend time in the woods with some good friends and maybe get my son to sit still long enough to go watch some deer. :archer2:
I have a Bear Tag and 5 Bobcat tags in my pocket and it will be Waterfowl season soon, Deer season over for me had a great time.
To kill all my families meat with bow - 3 is the magic number for the freezer. Will take more but would like to do 3 deer with the bow.
J
A whitetail traditional bowkill! Been close and lost a couple but haven't hung the first tag with my trad gear, on a whitetail that is.
Same as last year.
Hunt hard, shoot straight, and kill clean.
Arrows are flying perfectly, shooting is great, and broadheads are ready.
Hunt way more than last year.Already have 4 squirrel hunts under my belt and 1 nuisance permit deer hunt.At this rate Im well on my way to hunting more than last year. By the way squirrels with a long bow are some of the most fun you can have standing up!
I'm with ChuckC- Hunt more/work less!
Well, lets see, everyone says I'm ready with my Trad. bow. I think I'm ready, at least to 25yds. I would like to have my first clean kill with a Trad since I came back to it about a year and a half ago.
Only problem is, looks like we lost our hunting property so now my goal is to get some new hunting property. We're going to miss that place, been hunting on it for about 10 years now. It'll become a new road and more houses.
My goals are to kill a deer with my longbow and cedar arrows from the ground and to just enjoy the outdoors. To do both on my own property is a gift and a dream come true! This is going to be a great season!
My main goal is to hunt with my primitive setup that I built and take a deer with stone heads. All built myself except for the heads.
All the better if it's the BIG one I seen several times last year.
Spend some quality time hunting with some trad gangers. Going to the Southern IN deer hunt that John Scifres puts on every year.
Good luck on fulfilling your goal guys.
Stiks
Shoot a doe and then watch for a nice buck. Enjoy as much time in the woods as possible.
Keep shooting my longbow as often as possible.
KILL A DEER!
Maybe get a deer hunt in with the recurve. Just too busy and haven't been back in archery long enough to feel comfortable shooting at a deer unless it might be 15yds away or less.
But I DO plan on declaring war on the squirrels around my house. Dang tree rats are taking over!! Gotta cull some. Season starts in Oct I believe...
I just achieved my #1 goal for this return to traditional equipment. I tell the tale on the thread: "1st Tradtional Kill in 36 years".
I am very pleased!
