Shot this turkey in my orchard this afternoon. A whole flock was under one of the apple trees resting. I had just gotten back from the gym and feeling hot so I took off my shirt. I proceeded to begin making lunch. When I went to the garage to deposit the recycling I saw turkeys in the orchard. I grabbed my bow and quiver and put on a sneak out the back door. If I could get to the back of my shed I should be able to get a crack at one. Well, I made the stalk and as I was getting set behind the shed I herd one of them "yelp". I knew that they knew something was up. So I just stayed put and they slowly started to head for the woods. Two of them stopped with an opening in the grass. I took a shot at the bigger of the two and heard the arrow hit and the bird ran off. It only went about 50 yards into the woods before expiring. This year is starting off very well. A bear two weeks ago and my Fall turkey on the second day....spot and stalk, half naked. I was shooting my DAS recurve with 55# Border HEX 5 limbs (I'm REALLY liking them), a 340 Beman Max 4 shaft and a 250 grains of Razorcap broadhead.

Great looking bird. Congratulations!

Great job, I am 0-2 for turkeys with the longbow. Got a bunch of feathers both times. I have many with a shotgun and a couple with the compound. I'll have my day.

SC..It took me a long time to get my first one last Fall. This was almost too easy...but hunting is like that some times. Keep at it and I am sure that eventually you will succeed.

Way to go Bill!!! A rather nice start to your season I'd say.

Dave: It's been very good so far. If NH had not put a hold on does I would have had the biggest doe of my hunting career yesterday. Saw five deer, a doe and 3 fawns, and a big ole lone doe that played with me for about an hour and then walked to within 8 yards of my stand. Can't wait for Oct. 1!

Nice bird, and thanks for putting some clothes on before taking a picture with the trophy! :biglaugh:

Bill you are a killin machine. :archer2:

AZ....the shirt was not optional for the pic.
Earl...I hope the streak will keep going. Still 3 months of deer hunting left..and who knows, I've seen bear where I deer hunt. They are scarce down here in the Southern Zones but Laura and I have both had them come by while on our deer stands.

So you put the shirt on just for the photo....

Good job...Congrats

Congrats Bill! Couple more weeks to wait here yet.

About the shirt....I go to the gym 4 dyas a week. I didn't want to make anyone feel bad because I just dropped that hard to loose 15 pounds of belly fat. So...I decided that the shirt had to go on.
