Well this started about a month ago when I started looking for some new woods to use. I wanted some AMERICAN EXOTICS That I have seen used in other applications. After finding what I was looking for, things kept coming up and one phone call led to another email and so on. The next thing I know I am loading a big stack-o-wood into my rig and driving home, all the while thinking of what kind of hoops I will need to jump through to get said stack into my ever shinking shop. Well after I found a resting place for my new wood, I started to get excited about building a new bow out of some of it. I just could not decide what I wanted to use first, so I used as many different types as I could, and called my new creation "Pure Michigan" as all of the woods are cut and milled in our great state. In fact, all of the wood in this bow came from the same mill with the exception of the osage used for the I-beam, I cut that not far from my house a couple of years ago. I will share some pictures and ask for your input and fedback. Overall I am diggin it.
Riser: Spalted American Ash with Osage I-Beam.
Core: American Hard Rock Maple.
Back veneer: American Black Ash.
Belly veneer: Spalted American Hard Maple.
I will be adding a Black leather gripAfter my finish cures out fully.
Thanks for looking.Sorry for the blurry pics.
Chuck

Wow! I like that Chuck. Beautiful bow. Thanks for sharing.
Magnus
Thanks Todd, Thats the plan(if sombody don't want it more than me)(sometimes it stinks being in the bow selling business). And yes, smooth and pounds my hammerheads into(and thru) my target.
My pleasure Magnus,thank you
Chuck
That's a beauty Chuck, nicely done!
Oh Oh I see many cracks in the glass better send it to my house :biglaugh:

Well done on the I-beam too. I-beams are not my thing as you know, but I like the way this one turned out.
Chuck, very nice looking bow! Thanks for sharing...
Great looking bow. Some don't like the I-beams but i love them.I have to get out to your shop and shoot one of thoose and check out the vests.
Chad
Spalted maple limbs are sweet!!!
Beautiful bow!! I really like the idea of all North American woods. Bob
Nice work all
American, all Michigan
I'm gona have to see that bow in person..you working out of town this weekend?
Cody..
Great idea Chuck. Looks sharp!
Could it look any more awesome?
I mean how cool is this one? Way!!! I'd say....
I'd say that would be a tall order to fill if someone wanted a prettier bow.
Thank you for showcasing your talent for us.
God bless,Mudd
PS: I would worry too much about your shop. A clean organized shop is the sign of a sick mind.
I keep telling my wife that all the time...lol Now she just doesn't come in any more...
NICE! Being a native Michigander and living here in Buckeye land I love to see the Pure Michigan! I really like that bow.
Although, one does have to admit when it actually comes to using a bow, SE Ohio is second to nothing in Michigan.
That is a GREAT looking bow!!!
Excellent job...and I`m partial to the "Pure Michigan" thing as well!!!
Great looking bow Chuck
Nice Chuck. You keep raising the bar for yourself and it wil be hard to keep up!
WOW! Thanks for all the kind words. I am humbled.
Shaun, yes, I will be out on a job starting in about 10Min. :)
Arwin, The spalted is great. I made this bow for me(again) so I used the piece with less spalting, I can't wait to make the next one.
Colin, I will be happy to bring my PURE MICHIGAN down to S.E. Buckeye land for you to see ;)
Mudd, Thanks for the kind words brother( I was hoping for a "..way I'd say" tho  )
Thanks to all again. I have some different woods to try out in the next one, It should be coming soon. Then again, so is OCTOBER 1ST!
Very Nice Chuck, I would like to shoot one. Will you have a booth in Kalamazoo in January?
Chuck, Oustanding looking bow. The spalted wood really looks good. You did Michigan proud.
Great looking bow. That maple is awesome!
GO BLUE!!!!
WOW !!! TOO NICE ..I WANT IT !!!!
Chuck,
That is a beauty, yet I know from experience it shoots even better than it looks.
Rick
real nice Chuck, be sure and post some pics when you get the grip installed.
Great bow Chuck!!
I like what Mudd said.
I feel the same way .
Nice looking bow!
Really nice looking bow Chuck!
Very nice job
Nice, is Spalted the same thing as Burl?
I like the woods, very nice bow. The riser and the tips are beautiful!
Nice bow Chuck. When I get that feather grinder set up I'll send you some choice feathers (on me)so you can create some arrows to go with it.
That is sweet, real nice contrasts.
You ALL are too nice, I love bows and getting to make a new beauty everytime is great fun. I hope to making a run of the "PURE MICHIGAN" bows real soon. How about a "PURE MICHIGAN AMBUSH"?
One question I can't settle up in my head is this, Do you think the woods are too light colored for a hunting bow?
Chuck
Leave it in the Longwalker so there is longer pieces of wood to see that awesome grain. You know how much I like the Longwalker I bought from you, you did say that was exchangeable for a new bow didn't you? :saywhat:  I'm diggin' "Pure Michigan".
I haven't written a message in about a year but just had to say that that is one cool bow, love the idea. Great work.
Very nicely done!
I would hunt it the way it is.
SORRY but the name "Pure Michigan" has been used.
I had the first Great Northern Super Ghost Limited Edition with the green glass and the Core wood was harvested on the GN land so the name was formed for it.
Very nice looking bow you have. As far as I care you can use the name because it fits that one also.
I thought that sounded familiar, but his says Pure Michigan by Two Tracks! Each bowyer in Michigan could make their own version. That would be cool.
No need to be Sorry DM, I know Jerry put that on his bows. I also think the state of MI uses the phrase for some promotions. This is just my take on it.Thank you
JJB, welcome back to the fire.Glad to be of help. Thanks for the kind word.
Mike, can you handle 55# of strung fury? :p and yes that would be cool  , I already have showed this to my buddy John Mc. He is coming over Friday to root thru my stash. BUT, I am also having My top secret supply guy come over. Maybe somthing new will show up.
TJ, Spalted wood is not the same as Burl. Spalting happens when the tree lays on the ground and picks up minerals and fungus that go into the fibers and stain the grain, or something like that. Maybe a wood expert will chime in.
Thanks again.
Chuck
put me on list for one...
"SWEET" !! is all I can say, you're not making this any easier !! You've got tallent my friend , Now Stop cutting the Shelf on the "Wrong" side !!!
Jeff, You can get this one(did I say that out loud? :banghead: )
Adam, Thanks Again. I might have a lefty laying in wait soon, beeecarful buddy. :D (whats your specs again?)
Chuck
message me ..info
Chuck,I think a black walnut riser with some nice grain with a spalted window and veneers.Anything with that spalted ash would be a sharp bow.
Chad
Lookin good man.... Cant wait to see it in person....
Well hope you guys have a good week.. I'm heading up north here in a few hrs for the early Doe season to see if I can shoot one with the bow...
Cody
beautiful bow Bud.
Hey Chuck, I hope Early Doe Season doesn't end up like Early Bowfishing Season :biglaugh: :dunno:
It's looking like maybe eh Mike? What do you want to do? Upgrade that sweet osage Longwalker you have?
chuck
thats a beauty of a bow
if you end up keeping it send me a piece of the spalted wood and i will make you a knife to match
the bow
kevin
I really like the Longwalker I have, but honestly, Osage is not my favorite. The good thing is, it changes color. The I beam osage would be sweet! I don't think this old SeaDog could handle 55# of strung fury though. If you get another built closer to 47-50# I would like to negotiate! How is Halverson's weight reduction coming on his bow? He just dropped off some arrows for my son-in-law who will be here next month to bow hunt. Guess he re-upped and already has plans for his 3rd deployment early next year. I hope I can get him in front of a deer!
Man thanks for the offer Kevin, your bow is in the next batch for R/R/R. What is the son inlaw shooting Mike?
Chuck
Great looking bow Chuck, your killing me!
I like the bow.
Love the bow. Absolutely awesome.
Chuck, he's shooting a Root Rangemaster X166. 66", 35+@28 and drawing about 31 1/4. I bought this bow a few years ago and shot it in a league. Sold it at Compton's and bought it back last year (2 years later) from the same guy for a slight handling fee. He has a longbow that is heavier but he's not comfortable with it.
What a sweet looking bow that is....and I love the fact it is all Michigan. I need to talk to you about a sweet little LH for myself
Let me know when you are ready Michael. I have a short list to work from so the time is right to order.
Chuck
Two Tracks ..I'm messaging you now
I saw the bow Tue.
A whole lot prettier in your hand.
Hard to explain but the grain looks like it is deep down into the glass.
The riser has a nice feel to it also.
Not sure but I think he could be talked out of it.
Thanks George, I am indeed going to post it to the classifieds today. Thanks again for coming down yesterday, I had fun and your bow is a good one.
Chuck
I always thought using American Chessnut from recycled boards would be cool. Have saw a few craft items made from it.
That sounds cool Mike. Do you have a supplier of said boards? I would like to see them. Thanks
Chuck
Hey Chuck
Your tiller string is in the mail.
Did you know I had it?
Sorry about that.
George
Thanks George,I tought you would hold it ransome till I sent the flemish to you. Did you get the bow finished?
Not yet Chuck.
Spent the day with the Buck!
Chuck,
I've got a couple of Kolometz Special's that I've heard were all local woods as well. Those all "local" bows are pretty special and very interesting looking. There's a lot of character in some of the grain.
I love the idea of using only home grown wood. Time to keep the money at home, and there is no loss in beauty and performance.
Great job.
Mike
I agree Phil, some woods are unique to a certain area and can ad a bit of romance and meaning to a true custom build.
Mike, That is kind of why I went this route, keep stuff at home. The American woods have some nice looks and performance. Thanks for the post guy's
Chuck
Chuck, I dont know of a supply personally but did a search and came up with several. The items I saw were in a craft shop in NC. turned bowls and such. Its hard to imagine but Chestnut was once a predominate tree in eastern forest, it could grow to 10 ft around and over 100 ft tall.Taking a bow with Chestnut wood to the forest would surley have some major mojo.
Chuck, I just sent a message to you from your website on the pure Michigan Bow, very nice, I'm thinking very hard about one !
Dan
Thanks for the information MCNSC, I will look into it.
Dan D, Email returned, thanks for the contact.
Chuck
Chuck:
I thought you were going to hunt with that bow this year? I really like that bow...killer wood...killer craftsmanship!
