i need to make nocks slightly larger to fit string correctly i have done this in the past by sanding was thinking about puttting them in hot water than putting them on the string has anyone tried this or should i stick to sanding?
I prefer to change my serving for nock fit,but if I still need to adjust I just sand them to fit.I feel it is easier to control the fit then heating up in water. It usally just takes alittle sanding for the fit.
I usually put some boiling water in a coffee cup and hold the nock in there for half a minute or so.I use a butter knife to pry them open. You can dip them in cold water or just set them aside to cool. They don't get real soft.I'm not sure if the string alone would open them as much as you need.I try them on the string and tweek again when I need to.
I sand them, leave them just a hair snug cause the sanding marks left in the nock will wear down.

I use the hot water method. Once they've been in the water for a little while I just push them on the serving a few times till they feel how I want. Then I run some cold water over it. Good luck, and take your time. :archer:
I use the same method as Joe..
i have a knife that has the perfect blade thickness for spreading the nock. I stick them in boiling water the place them on the back of the blade and let cool. Perfect every time.
nail file them, but do it slowly to get the fit you want.
I use the hot water method, and I place them on a paint stick to spread them. Only had a problem with the Gold Tip nocks being too tight. They are the ones I had to spread.
