Title: New to me bow
Post by: Recurve50 LBS on September 07, 2010, 11:56:00 PM
I got a Ben Pearson Colt recurve. Stats on it are 35# at 28". It's a 62" bow.
Thought it might be a nice bow to mess around with or to give to my son after I get a new string for it.
Any thoughts about this bow?

Great bow to use for just plain shooting, bow fishing or even small game. Pearson made some fine bows back in the late 60's early 70's. You'll enjoy shooting the Colt...

There are two 35# Colts in my house.  One my fiancé shoots with the 3-R Traditional Carbon arrows.  The other I picked up at a local consignment store.  It has some stress lines but the limbs are straight and shoot perfectly.  Following some of the threads here on Tradgang I’m refinishing that bow for myself.  In the meantime, I love using the her Colt for backyard target practice.  The bow draws sweet out to my 31in draw length and groups POC arrows better than I ever imagined.  I’m thinking of doing some small game hunting with it this fall as well.

The Colt is a nice bow and there are some really good string makers on this site. I have personally had great luck with Oliver Stacey strigs.

I have an old Ben Pearson Cougar , marked 45x ; a 46lb 62" bow. I plan on using it for a bowfishing bow. Has a good bit of hand shock with my 2016 aluminums , but a heavy fiberglass fish arrow calms it down a lot . gillchaser
