I just made a trade for some various broadheads and they are all glue on heads. I am wanting to know the best place to buy some adapters. I am wanting to get the lightest possible ones because I'm wanting to stay right at 200 grains on the business end.
Is there any "special tricks" to aligning these up when you glue them into the heads ??? I have never done this before, but should be able to "get'er dun".......I'm hoping.

ANy of the trad achery stores should carry the screw in Al adapters. I believe they come in two weights w/ 37 grs being the heaviest in Al. If you go steel adapter they are 75, 100 and 125 grains.

I have some XL broad head adapters and some short ones. Not sure if the XL ones are 5/16 or 11/32 but you are welcome to some. Shoot me a PM, I'm off Wed/Thur/Fri this week and most of my time will be shooting the bow and getting my hunting gear/clothing ready.

I screw the broadhead adapter into an arrow and then I apply JB Weld to the adapter. I them put the broadhead on the adapter and I turn it. Kinda like screwing it down on the adapter. I remove the broadhead from the shaft and then I cleanup the excess JB Weld that squirted out and I make sure that I clean up around the bottom of the broadhead around the threads. If you do it this way, make sure you apply some downward pressure to the broadhead when unscrewing from the shaft because the JB Weld hasn't hardened yet. I use JB Weld because when using hot melt, I have had broadheads separate from the adapter when I pulled them out of a target. BTW, If you use JB Weld, do not use the quick set stuff because it sets extremely quick and that makes it hard to work with. John
1) Zwickey aluminum 11/32" long broadhead adapters weigh 36 grains.
2) Magnus aluminum 11/32" long broadhead adapters weigh 42 grains.
3) Magnus 11/32" aluminum short broadhead adapters weigh 25 grains.
4) Zwickey 5/16" aluminum long broadhead adapters weigh 28 grains.

Just curious. Is it easy to take the broadhead off the adapter by applying low heat if you use JB Weld?
Hot melt is the only way to go for me. Only way to get perfect allignment is to glue, check, reheat, recheck, until its good. If you are using epoxy or JB if your allignment is off you are scr#%*%
I use epoxy, and since it doesn't set so quick like hot melt. I find it MUCH easier to get a true spin alignment because I have plenty of time to get it right before the glue sets up.
Don't have to use heat either and chance changing the temper of the head.
Zwickey Short adapters are the lightest I believe.
I also like epoxy.I'm just not very good with the hot melt and have to reheat often.The epoxy can be heated if you ever have to remove it.Most 5 minute epoxies are not as strong.It is a good idea to clean the point ferrule with a Q Tip and acetone to make sure there is no factory oil there.I often take a few seconds and scratch up the inserts and ferrules with some sandpaper,just for extra insurance.
It probably doesn't affect flight,but I like to align all mine the same.At least it gives the same sight picture and for me,that is horizantal.I line them up before glue and mark the end of the shaft with a fine point marker.
It is very important that the point spins true and it is worth the time making a spinning jig.I had some rollers that came with a cutoff saw,so mine is kind of fancy but it doesn't have to be.You can make 2 "V" blocks of wood or metal an just have a flat vertical surface in front of the point.I establish an alignment point by using a straight shaft and a field point that I know is true.I have masking tape on my tip alignment surface and poke the field point tip into that.I darken that dot with a pen so I can see it weel.
Lay the arrow on the spinner before the epoxy sets,with the blade vertical.Look down on it and make sure the tip is perfectly aligned with the dot.Now turn the shaft 90 degrees,so the blade is now horizontal,look down and check tip alignment again.
If the tip is aligned from both directions,it is perfect.Set it aside,where the broadhead it not touching anything and let the glue set up.I like to let epoxies set up overnight before shooting.
I used to spin broadheads on their tips to check for alignment but the spinning jig has proven to me that I did a less than perfect job that way.The jig takes the guesswork out of it and actually speeds up the process.

Just got some premium steel adapters from Braveheart and they were great and came fast.
For the few extra grains of weight, I would STRONGLY recommend the long adapters. They align much better and the point bond is stronger.

Thanks for the info. I've always used hot melt glue, but I'm going to switch and use the JB epoxy.
Night Wing, I have never tried separating broadheads and adapters from each other after using JB Weld but I do know that they won't separate like the hot melt separates.

Then how do you separate them? If they can't be separated, I might as well stick with hot melt glue.
NW, Yeah, they are removable. I just heated up a Magnus II with a torch and the adapter came out. Actually, I was holding the broadhead with a pair of vice grips and I heated the crap of it and I heard a little pop and then the adapter shot out and it hit the wall of my garage about 3 feet away.
