If anyone shoots douglas fir shafts, especially ones that you have made yourself, I would love to hear your comments about them and see some pictures.

I love Doug Fir. Strong, consistent and beautiful to boot! See what others are saying too.
Here are some Douglas fir arrows. 28.5" to BOP, 620gr with 125 heads.

DF is a good solid shaft. In some ways better than cedar. Hard hitting, tough and heavier than cedar giving great penetration.
order Surewoods from sponsors on here or direct from Surewoods. I am done with POC. I am sure there is some good POC out there, just have not been able to find it myself on a regular basis. Surewoods are very straight, strong, and stay that way. I got a set of 65-70's that are within 6 grains and 4 lbs on spine and gunbarrel straight. JMHO
From the 1st time I shot the DF's I made up, I never shot my carbons since! Out of 2 dozen arrows they are all within 5 grains of each other finished! I didn't have to straighten one of them!
Is the sourwood fir the same as the douglas fir? Or are the differnet species of the fir family?
Just looked it up. Not even close. What wood I am asking about is Douglass Fir, looks a lot like a spruce or a pine, and can be purchased as lumber in some box stores. Douglas fir used to be available almost everywhere, but now only in 4x4's that I can find. Thanks for the imput guys, but sourwood is not the same wood.
Stringstretcher...the shafts that "Surewood shafts" sell are douglas fir. Douglas fir is the only arrow shafts I've used for quite a few years. I used to make my own shafts from stock I cut myself, but prefer to buy shafts from Surewood now.

I make my own on a router style jig, no problems with them they are heavy compared to poc....
