Title: gamemaster 2 VS Hoyt ILF riser
Post by: fireball31 on September 04, 2010, 11:00:00 PM
well here's the deal I have the urge to play around with some techy type stuff.  Is there a difference other than bushings between the hoyt ILF riser.  I'm looking ILF but I don't like the solid color ILF risers.

Camo dipped ones are available from from lots of sources as are the great wooden risers by Morrison.  Bob also has, and may still have some of his metal ILF risers however, he's clearing them out with a great sale and will be stocking no more.. You may want to contact him real soon..
I have a camo 15"r coming my way!

I don't think I worded my question the right way, I meant is there any difference between the Hoyt Gamemaster riser VS. the Hoyt ILF riser other than the bushings

The Gamemaster is not an ILF bow but you can convert ILF limbs to work on the Gamemaster. As far as limb pocket angle, not sure if they are the same but they are probably close.

The shape of the limb pad is also different.

The Gamemaster limb pad has the same contour as the limb and is designed to for the limb to be bolted down flat.  The pad on the ILF riser is flat and desgned to only make contact with the limb "rocker."  Because of this, the limb contact is virtually the same across all preload and weight adjustments.

If you want to experiment, I would go with the ILF riser.  The only difference between the Gamemaster and any other bolt down takedown is that the riser is metal and shaped funny.  Aside from that, there are no adjustments.

thanks a lot turkeys fear me.  You gave me the exact explanation that I was looking for.  Its amazing the wealth of knowledge on this site.  I believe I'll be ordering an ILF riser from them in the near future.

The Hoyt Excel 21" riser is the same length as the Gamemaster riser, but with the ILF adjustability - and you won't have to worry about converting limbs to fit the riser.

I'll second the Hoyt Excel, I have the 23" inch version, paired up with medium Sky ilf longbow limbs, makes the most accurate bow I own.
