Title: Brian has a new filly in the stable (pics)
Post by: Bel007 on September 03, 2010, 08:30:00 PM
I wanted to share some pics of my new bow... some of you know how excited I have been to get this little filly since ordering it at the Compton Rendezvous.  Take about great turn-around time.  I wasn't expecting it to arrive until mid to late hunting season.

She is a Mariah from Wild Horse Creek Bows made by Mike Dunaway.  It is a 54" recurve 52#@28".  Her riser is Brazilian and Bolivian Rosewood.  Limbs are Hard Maple with Yew lams.  Tips are Black Micarta, Bolivian and Brazilian Rosewood.  She is also wearing a brown beavertail grip.

She is light weight, sexy and sleek.  Even w/o tuning arrows to her she is grouping 'em right tightly.

Mike also goes a bit beyond the call by providing a custom footed arrow with his bows made of the same wood as the bow's riser.  Nice touch !

Hope you enjoy the pics!

I really like the looks of that bow, and I am normally a diehard longbow guy.  You are right the arrow is a very nice touch!  I love the yew on that thing.

Gorgeous looking bow.

Pretty short at 54" - perfect for a stand or blind or getting through the scrub.
Being so short what is the finger pinch like?

Thanks guys.

Andrew - I am feeling a bit more pressure on my bottom finger than my longer bows but nothing like my '66 kodiak magnum.

I am thinking about one of Mike's longbows with the same woods to make a matched pair as a christmas present to myself.

My wife is wondering why I always buy myself a bow for christmas and she get more cooking appliances.  I tell her, because I work up an appetite shooting all them bows I bought.  :biglaugh:

Thanks for the kind words, Brian.  I am glad your know bow met your expectations.  Give me a call when you have a chance and let me know how it is shooting for you and share some stories from your bear hunt.

Very nice,
The Brazilian rosewood name is thrown around alot lately, but that is the real deal and hard to come by.  You can be very proud of that craftsman's work.  LF
