Just courious as to which wing feather you shoot.
I shoot both with no problem,I'm RH.I shoot both but mainly LW.
Right wing here. I think the first time I ordered feathers I erroneously thought I'm right handed so I need right wingers!
Right wing feathers for me too. When I got into trad archery over 40 years ago, the small archery shop where I spent lots of my time, all it had in stock were right wing feathers.
RW here. Seems most guys want LW feathers so I generally get a good deal on the unwanted RW primaries! :)
I shoot RW because that is what I started out with many moons ago & figure why change.
I shoot right-handed. When I started shooting a bow I was told two things by old time archers; 1) if you shoot right-handed you need to shoot left wing fletching 2) it does not matter if you shoot left or right fletching. I chose left wing because if I needed left wing I had the correct one or if it didn't matter I was still OK. Now that I have been shooting for about twenty years and have shot both left and right wing fletching I feel it doesn't matter.
Left wing on my right hand bows and right wing on my left hand bows. I like to feel the arrow slide on my finger when I draw and I still have a scar from years of shooting right on right. Some bows it did not matter, a couple I had it did. The ones that it did were also my best shooters.
I shoot right wing and I'm right handed. Shoots fine and being right wing maybe that helps keep my screw in heads tight.
Looking at the poll results it's a good thing we are split fairly close down the middle. Otherwsise feather manufactuers would charge more for one side or the other. :D

I'm right-handed but have always fletched with 5" left-wing parabolics.

I hadn't thought of that but you're probably right! :notworthy:
I just switched to Left Wing...
I actually read the care and instruction booklet that came with my new bow and it recomended LW for right handed shooters. I've also heard that righty's should shoot LW as when the arrow is shot, it spins the fletching away for better clearence from the shelf. Don't have any idea if that's true or not...or if the switch will help my accruacy either. But it cant hurt so why not.

I shoot what I have and now I have lots of right wing! I really have found no difference?
It really depends on your political views.
Seriously, though, for some reason, in Australia, right wing feathers were and are the most commonly available.
I shoot both but 80% of my arrows are RW. Can't see any difference one way or another....Randy
I am right handed and I have some left wing arrows fletched, but I much rather prefer right wing. Main reason why is that the left wings feathers for me are so much more of a pain in the *** to fletch. Many have said that no matter if you shoot a left handed or right handed bow, the orientation of the helical makes little difference because the arrow doesn't start to spin until after it clears the riser anyway. I believe that to be true, so I would rather stick with what is comfortable for me to fletch and that way I will be more inclined to do a much nicer job on my arrow building.
Keep the poll going, this is some good insight.

Semo_Hunter said it all for me.
While I realize that some individuals do get better clearance on their hands with a particular wing, for most archers it doesn't matter. A lot of people seem to forget that the arrow can't begin to rotate until it leaves the string, and high speed photography has shown that it really doesn't begin to spin until it's past the riser.
I use right wing because it's easier for me to work with on the fletching jig. I can easily see and work with the entire base while the feather is in the clamp.
Guy
I shoot right wing because it's the only clamp i have for my fletching jig that i used for my wheely at one time.
I shoot right wing because that's how the fletcher I bought is set up. What is frustrating though is that flu flu's are only sold in left wing. I can't find any right wing ones.

Grey- You made a fine point there and I didn't realize this until you said it, but I have a hard time seeing the entire quill on my feather when fletching them left wing. I knew that something wasn't quite right and I just didn't like it until you put your finger on it. That's exactly why I don't like fletching left wing, because I can't see what I'm doing. Although, they seem to turn out fine....I don't like the fact of having to just hope I got them on there right.
Fldz58, you have a PM.
I shoot left-handed and I use right wing mostly because I like to feel the feather touch my nose at full draw.
Been shooting RW so long it's all I know and that's what my Bitz is set-up for.Thought of trying LW also so I can use the other wing feathers off my turkeys.
Right single bevel heads and right wing!
LW/LH. Seems to me there is no difference other than I can usually find LW feathers in more colors.
RW because I always have and that is the clamp I have.
In the beginning of the year it must have been the broken wing, cause I couldn't hit crap. Now i am back on and it's the right wing for sure.
I shoot rt wing because i got a good deal on a rt wing fletching jig at a sports show years ago when i decided to start making my own arrows. Im rt handed and have no problems with arroiw flight. Have trouble hitting things sometimes but my arrows fly good!!
I shoot left wing , I was a right handed bow shooter for a few years the right wing feathers cut into my left hand so I changed to left wing this took care of this problem.Had to change to left handed bows and still had to shoot left wing for the same reason.
MARK
Started using RW cause thats all Bass Pro carries in my area.
I have both, wasn't an option - I'm a right handed shooter and shoot cock feather in, have always shot RW but am changing to LW which will allows a tad more clearance to the outside of my shelf - I spent alot of time watching videos and seeing what the " well known shooters" do and right handed shooters that I (look for advice from) shoot LW feathers. The new rule seems to be it doesn't matter but I think it might.
Jeremy - RW flu flu's are just cut from full length RW feathers - you can do that (or were you just joking around)
Either one shoots fine. I shoot left wing due to the right wing feathers cut into my left hand. Also, since one of my anchors is locating the cock feather to the tip of my nose, left wing works better for me.
