Just curious what length recurve are you all shooting hunting from the ground?
Also how tall are you and draw length please.
I am asking cause I have never shot a recurve over 58 inches in thought of gained manueverability versus not as a forgiving bow. Would a 60 incher make a big difference or not so much?
Thanks,
Andrew
I am 5'10 and draw 27.5 for reference and my favorite bow is 58 inches long.
I like 56-58" bows. I draw 27" and from all my ambush locations, these lengths are perfect. I also like my 50" Browning Cobra for spring turkey hunting but prefer the above lengths.
I always liked a 58" bow. That being said when I started shooting longbows they were all longer and I really didn't have a problem with them. I now kinda like some of he longer ones, 60-64' recurves and seem to not have an issue with the length!
I used to like shorter bows, but now I like a little longer ones. I also went from 28" to 29 1/2" draw. Now I like 58" and 60" curves, and 60" -62" hybrids if they are designed to draw to 30" or better at those lengths. I guess that puts me on the line between choices on the survey.
56 in Bear T/D
56-58-60 are my prefered lenght for my 29".But sometime I shoot also shorter like the 52"Kodiak Magunum.
Do you guys think the difference between 60 and 58 will be minimal?
I never hunt with a bow shorter than 60" and prefer longer. The only downside is a longer bow doesn't allow you to comfortably shoot sitting right on your butt. However I prefer the forgivness and sweet feel of the longer bows and work it out.
I normaly shoot 60" bows but I just bought a new 54" recurve thats I think is going to be a great bow to hunt with. I have a 27" draw. I dont think you will notice much going from 58-60. I had a set of 56" limbs for my 60" bow and that was very noticable when it came to manuvering it around in the brush.
6'5" and 30" draw. I shoot a 50" AMBUSH recurve. :D
I'm 6', draw 28", and I'll be shooting a 62" recurve this year. I don't sit an a tree stand so the length is not really an issue for me.

62" recurve is perfect for me.
I'm 5'6" with a 27" draw. For a hunting recurve, I like a 58 bow. I shot a 60" KS for quite a while, but the 58" feels better to me.
I'm 6' with a 28" draw and my recurve is 60". It's been working well for me, sitting and standing.
I am 5'8" draw 28" and love my 58" Holm Made River Runner.
Although, I have shot both shorter and longer, 60" is my choice for stability, smoothness and less finger pinch; plus the bowquiver feels better and the nocks don't end up in the dirt when leaning the bow against a tree. I'm 5-9 and draw 27.5". Shoot 60" Bear TD, and one piece recurves, mostly older Kodiaks (1955 - 1969), and all are 60".
I'm 5'9" on a straight day.56" to 60" is preferred.I draw a frogs hair under 28".
I'm 5'10" with a 28" draw length, and I like to shoot a 62" recurve.
60" [ Schafer and Kwyk Styk] seem to work the best for me with my 28 1/2" draw lenght. However, my Morrison Mini ILF with "long" R/C limbs making a 58" bow is the exception... the short riser and those long limbs sure make a smooth drawing bow.

I'm 5'9" with a draw length of 30" since I have long arms. My favorite recurve length is 66". I basically hunt from the ground.
My favorite is a 58". My draw length is 25.5".
I am 6'4" draw 30" and prefer my 64" recurves and when I use a longbow it is a 70" Howard Hill
I am 5'10" with a 27" draw. My go to ground bow is 46" RW Stalker recurve. Great for getting through the tough...you just need to limit your distance..15-18 yds.
Whatever one I shoot the best, I am 5'11"s and unless the bow is over 64"s I have no problem with any of them. That said I do all my hunting with a 54" RER Arroyo, great bow! Shawn
60 through 64 is a pretty big spread.
I like a 64 but don't think a 60 would be for me.
John
I'm 5'11" and I Draw 28.5" and I like 62" and under for Hunting on the Ground,
Kurt
60" length, its all I use.
I am 6' 28" draw, and I shoot a 60" bow.
5'9" 28" draw love 58" rc and 64"LB... looking @ getting LB limbs for the Morrison...
Good luck to you
5'8" with a 27" draw.
I am 67" tall and shoot a 60" recurve. I've never even drawn it in a treestand (ie all spot and stalk).
Also I draw somewhere at about 28".
From my knees I'd have to cant any bow longer than 40". Anything longer doesn't really make a difference, though I bet it limits opportunities in a pop up ground blind...
I am 6'3" and shoot mostly 64" bows, have a few 62"
I'm 5'7" with a 26.5" draw. I like a 60" recurve. I've not tried many bows shorter than that.
I'm 6'2" and prefer 62" recurve...I just received a 60" Shawnee that Bob built for me and I have to say she sure shoots good. I will be elk hunting with it in 10 days.
I'm 5'9" draw 27 1/2 inches I prfer 62-64 inch longbows and 60-62 inch recurves.
The idea of hunting from the ground seems quite novel to my American friends, whereas it is what us Aussies specialise in - all we know, really - for the most part with 60" to 62" recurves, with no troubles. Now, hunting from a tree is a novel idea to me, and plain freaks me out!
I'm 6'1" draw 29" I hunt with a 60" bow.
remember the ...KIKO bows ..38 If I remember...?
I'm a little under 5'9", getting closer to the earth, used to be a little over that. Draw is 28". Bow length - wish I knew!
I have a 60" recurve and a 66" LB coming in the mail...soon. Near as I can tell from posts here, it's about liking what you shoot and then making it work in the woods. We're talking 48"-70" bows (mostly), any one of which will probably be shot this season.
I think 2" either way won't be too noticeable.
Unless, the place you hunt with all that big sign around needs something specific....
I have always done well with my 52" Kodiak mag! This year I will be introducing my 60" Predator Classic that I have been practicing with all summer. Don't think it'll be a problem as I regularly change my shooting positions; from standing to sitting, to crouching, etc. So that being said...just get comfortable with your bow and clear away the necessary branches for clear shots and you should be fine! Good hunting!
I'm 6'2" and have a 28.5" draw. I prefer 62" recurves and D/R longbows.
I'm not comfortable hunting from a treestand. And I get more uncomfortable the older I get. I don't like the thoughts of the damage an abrupt impact with terra firma would have on my old body should I fall.

I just saw this post - I have a 54" Bob Lee Bicentennial Hunter Elite Recurve that I absolutely love. I was very hesitant when I originally purchased it but as it turns out I can shoot it much better than I actually anticipated. Plus it's quick, quiet, maneuverable and very nice to look at to boot.
I'm 5'8" and draw 27".
I'm 5'8" and draw 29".My favorite recurve length has always been 56".Most bows shorter than that,I don't shoot as well.
I wouldn't feel the least bit handicapped with a 60" bow and have hunted with one from trees, the ground and from a blind.I actually have one on order. Also,I shoot the bow vertical most of the time so if you cant the bow you may have even more clearance in many situations.
If you think about it,the 60" bow only adds 2" at each end. That just isn't a critical amount.
I personally would place more emphasis on how a bow feels and especially how well it shoots for me.
I am 6'05" and draw around 31" and I prefer the longer bows because they just shoot better for me. I hunt exclusively from the ground and use recurves 62-66" and longbows 66"+. I shot my 2010 bull with a 70" D-shaped longbow from one knee and didn't notice any problems with maneuvering the bow which had concerned me a little going in to the hunt. I guess for me it would be hunt with what you shoot best and are most comfortable with....Shawn
My prefered range for a recurve is 58" to 62" depending on poundage at full draw.
60" is a good all around bow length for 27-28" draw
i am 5'4 26"draw i shoot a 52" bear.i also use this bear for bowfishing mostly.it is a great bow from my blind.good luck this season,steve
I'm 6"2" draw 28" and like 60".
