Title: Stolen bow
Post by: Chad Duit on September 01, 2010, 10:51:00 PM
Would like to ask everyone to please be on the lookout for a Hummingbird  take down Recurve. It is a Kingfisher model, red elm limbs, 46# @ 28". Has custom made for Travis Duit on it and Rodeo Man in parenthesis underneath the name. It had a thunderhorn bow quiver on it and also stolen was a custom made Kangaroo backquiver. These items were taken on Monday the 30th of August 2010 from my brother's house in southwest missouri. Any help would be appreciated if anyone runs across this bow somewhere. Thanks, Chad

There is BW bow for sale in Missouri on the e-Bay web site.

Search 'Black Widow recurve bows'.

Good luck.

Charles.

This sucks.

Details are important in times like this so you may want to include where you were when it came up missing. Southwest Missouri is a fairly broad area. It may be helpful to narrow things down. The bow may be hanging in a pawn shop around the area where it disappeared. Maybe someone on here lives in that area or knows someone from that area. You don't need to provide the exact address, but a town, what part of that town and street or intersection would really narrow things down and may prove to be helpful.

My guess is the person who latched on to it, did it for short term gains and got rid of it as fast as they could.

Check local arhery shops. Sometimes they will sell equipment on consignment.  Often they do not have it on the shelf it is of traditional nature.

Call around and ask.

Good luck.

I had 4 bows stolen from me this Spring. I had them hanging on a rack in the Garage. Stupid me, left the door open one night by mistake and they were gone the next morning.
I filed a Police Report not expecting anything good to happen.
I got a call the next day that they'd found the guy who stole them and he was in jail!
Long story short- file a report! You never know how it will turn out.
Sorry for your Brother's loss.

Thank you all for your response, the bow was taken from a house just south of Ash Grove Missouri, which is about 15 west of springfield. We have contacted some of the pawn shops with no luck so far, we're not giving up yet though! Thanks again, Chad

I feel for you man.  Just a couple months ago someone broke the latches off my shed and stole all my fishing rods.  Not my bow, but just as bad.  Got me for about $2,000 worth.  I know how you feel.  I hope your police are a little more worried about it than ours were.  All they were worried about was filling out a report for the insurance.  They didn't even start to patrol the area, and guess what, a month later someone stole my propane tank off my grill on my porch.

Shoot me a PM with the details.  I work at the Springfield Police Dept and can check our pawn records online.  I found a stolen Widow a few years ago that way.  I have some other resources we can follow up with also.

I sure wish you all the luck I can muster in finding your bow.

2 years ago my daughter called me early in the morning to ask where I had moved the blind, I hadn't!

Someone came onto private property and made off with one of my favorite bow blinds.

It was large enough that both my daughter and I could hunting together in without getting in each others way.

If I ever see it, I'll know it! I doubt they'll find where I wrote my name with a permanent marker.
I will prosecute to the full extent of the law if the opportunity ever presents itself.

Good luck!!

God bless,Mudd

Homeowners should cover the cost but not the sentimental value. I know a large group of bow traders, buyers, and collectors that converse regularly. I'll send this to them to get more eye's on it!!!

If you file a Police report, they normally share a database with the local Pawn shops.  If the item(s) are being Pawned, it will show up on the Police files.  At least that is the way it works around here.

Best of luck in your recovery.

God bless.

i have never had a bow stolen.  I did have a gun stolen once and it turned out to be a guy that I knew and talked to almost daily.  Might want to discretely check some acquaintences.  I know what your thinking, I would not have thought this guy would have stolen one of my guns either.  Greed is powerful to those who let it rule their lives.

GOD Bless,

I had a lot of my guns stolen a few years ago, not to mention money and jewelry.  Never got any of it back.  I actually go to court at the end of the month for the hearing of the thief (scumbag) who stole them.  Good Luck to you!

I left 2 custom arrows , outfitted with judo points, on an indoor table at our local bowclub the other week. When I went back later to retrieve them (I forgot I took them out and laid them there), they were natrually missing. The part that disturbed me was I had put my name on them when I made them...some people! I don't want to know the agony of a stolen bow. Good luck...who knows...maybe the guilty party will return them???? If not, hopefully they are caught....good luck.......john

Hope they find them, I know your pain. This happened to me about 8 years ago, they broke into my garage and stole a bunch of tools and my bow. I didn't notice for a couple of days, I was loading up to go hunting, went to grab my bow (my only bow)and it was gone! Talk about ruining your season. Good luck, I hope you find it.

Contact the sheriff or police.  They go in and check pawn shops on a regular basis in our area.
