Title: Landowner called today
Post by: Hookeye on August 31, 2010, 08:00:00 PM
Said behind the bales he set up on the gun range for archery practice, out walked a monster tom turkey (this my springtime hunting area close to home- was brutal season early........I want revenge!)

Kinda got me stoked.

We get them on our rifle range a lot! They sure like to shut us down. Good luck on this one, maybe he thinks you are playing by our club rules.   ;)

I second that. The county where I turkey hunt is one of those benefiting from TN's new non-quota fall hunt. I cant wait.

Had 2 things happen to me this spring turkey season that made me nuts.  Had 2 gobblers going at the same time and just at the time I was to shoot a fox came and busted them.  I went nuts and shot a the fox.  Missed him.  The next day was in the same place and did some calling then went quite.  10 minutes passed and I heard a twig snap, I looked over my left shoulder,  there was a 300# + blk bear less the 20 ft away.  lucky I had my shot gun instead of my long bow.  Shot over his head and he took off.   Don't what I would have done with my bow.  It really made me think, what if?

Good luck on your upcoming hunt. Talking about turkeys on a range, our range is next to national forest. I was on the range last fall with Trad Gangers Desert Dude and Redant 60/65 when we saw a flock of turkeys. I started counting the birds as they went by and counted 65 birds. Some additional had already past us before I started counting. Unfortunately we are not allowed to hunt on our range or use it as a jump-off point.
