Which would you consider the best all around pattern for the early season? I'm leaning toward the evening stand brown. Seems to break up the outline well.
If I bought a new one it would have to be the evening stand green, don't want it to be too dark a pattern, don't want to blob out!
I picked one up at Denton Hill, it's gray, black, with maroon and yellow lines in a plaid. I hunt a lot from ground blinds and I think this is going to be good! For me anyway....lol!
I'm seriously thinking of saving a few $$$ to get me one of these & like the Evening Stand Brown or the Evening Stand Green for the blending effect of the areas that I would mostly hunt.
My old Teresa shirt is very similar to the ESB and works GREAT! The ESB would be my first choice; the ESG and Shadow Plaid would be good, too.
RonW- I pawed through them at Denton but couldn't find a color/size combo I liked. Gonna hafta have one soon!
Fletcher- those are my top three picks. Probably will go with the ESG Brown or ESG when it's cool and my ASAT leafy suit when it isn't.
This will be my first year deer hunting with a recurve and I plan to do a lot of still hunting. Now who makes good lighter weight wool pants that I won't have to take out a loan for. (Filson) :scared:
I'm fixing to order the evening stand brown.....Randy
This pattern works well in the Hemlock and golden rod that I hunt. I don't think this pattern is still available but any will work just as well.

Scott, I got wool pants in a 2 different weights at an Army/Navy store. They were German army issue and I got them for $8 a pair, the price may have gone up but that's a good place to look!! One pair is gray the other is olive green!
Scott, you can find plenty of wool dress pants at the thrift stores. They make great early season hunting pants and cost about $3 a pair.

Thats my favorite pattern right there! It wasn't available, limited, bummer!
I picked it up at denton a few years ago. It was the only one and a guy tried it on then was putting it back on the rack.As soon as he left I grabbed it ! Got a nice gray and black pattern one with a hood to try out this fall.
The gray and black plaid one I got has a hood. It should keep the chill off my neck.....lol!
I ordered the evening stand brown on sunday. Haven't got it yet but I can't wait. Going up to New Brunswick bear hunting in two weeks and I hope to break it in on a beautiful fall bruin!! I was torn between the brown and green. Maybe if my wife isn't looking I'll get the green for myself at Christmas time.

Guess I'm the only one that likes Skyline plaid? Anyway, ordered it this past Friday and just got it today - fast considering it was a holiday weekend. Very well made and warm and looks great.
Ed Q,
I think Skyline Plaid is a sleeper. It's an excellent pattern and once it catches on I think it's going to be very popular.
Good choice! todd
I recieved my evening stand brown on saturday and it looks great!! I hung it out on the line to air out in the sun with the rest of my camo clothes that I just had washed. From about 40 yards it blended with the woods behind my clothes line better than the camo did. Can't wait to get to New Brunswick to try it out on some bears!!
GLENN
Easy answer - get a couple of them.
I bought the shadow plaid with a hood, and is really satisfied with the product
It also blend in good out in the woods:

Just ordered a hooded one in Evening Stand Brown on Sunday. Teresa is making the sleeves longer for me and said it will ship this week...GREAT service!!!
I got one at Denton Hill this summer that I don't see on the website.I personally think it's the best treestand pattern I'll try to post a picture. It was the only one Teresa had.But saying that I think the northern light pattern would be a great pattern also. Oh hell there all nice!!!
If you are able to see Teresa in person, she has many more colors than offered on the site. Best to attend a shoot with the Asbels there. I met her at Denton Hill. The other thing you can do is email her. I have found her to be most accommodating. She may be able to buy the plaid you want or have it in stock. Its worth a shot.

I have 2, I do not think it makes much difference.
If Teresa makes it, its good. Tell her what your looking for and she'll pick out the pattern for ya. Great product, but an even better person. Fred done good.
Not to thread jack, but how about sizing? I am 5'10 165lbs 42 chest 33 waist? Thanks I left a message but wanted to order before leaving for the day. I would layer also.
I am 5' 9", and 160 lbs. I tried them on at Comptons, and ordered a large. I normally wear a medium, but they were too tight. I do not plan on layering under the pullover, just over it. I will just wear a thin shirt under. Hope that helps.
Dang you guys.... after reading this I had the wants so bad that I ordered one with a hood in the shadow plaid.

FWIW, I'm 6', 165 lbs, about a 40 chest and 34 waist and the Large fits me perfect with room to spare. So my guess is that a 42 chest would fit in it perfectly.

Yeah, I like the one I have so much, I'm tempted to get another one! Thinking of the red "Autumn Summer" one, a seemingly unpopular choice on here, but I seem to be in the minority with my pattern choices! I figured if deer can't distinguish between green and red, and if it'll make it easier for another person in the woods to spot me and not mistake me for game, then it's worth a try.

Awww man! Now I like that one too... :banghead:
I kinda like this pattern. :D This is my Teresa shirt that I bought around 2004 and it is still my #1 hunting shirt. I'll be wearing it this fall and probably many more.

I cant see the pattern there is a giant rack in the way. Ha.. I ordered the shadow plaid yesterday, it was 2nd choice evening stand brown was out of stock in a Large.
Either the ESB or the Skyline Plaid look great to me!
Just got my pullover.... it is sweet!
Insane fast processing and shipping!!! Ordered Thursday PM and got in the mail Saturday! Thinner weight than I thought but for its purpose bunny and rat thumping I walk more and am warm anyhow.
Huntin Sparty- I'm 5'10 175# 32" waist, 42" chest and the large fits me well, although the sleeves are a little long.
I have 5 pullovers and 1 vest...so you might say that I'm a big fan of them!
I got one question that's rather stupid...what do you do with the raw hide strings in the neck lace up? I never see pictures with the strings hanging down so do you stuff them down the inside of the shirt?
nothing beats a medium colored grey for the woods,,,, another trad shooter here locally told me that grey is the natural camo of the woods---> you guys know what that Fall deer fur color is right and you know how they disappear if you take your eyes off them,, this all made sense to me and I was told to never ever wear Black because it stands out especially in the trees.
with all that being said,,, how heavy is the material of his pull overs,, is it really warm for the North east say 20 degree temps and a 5mph breeze or is it more for the southern cold 40 degree temps.
just ordered mine today should be here by the end of the week .i ordered autumn sumak
just ordered my pullover today .i ordered autumn sumak .
I like the northern lights for timber or treestand use. I just have yet to buy one yet but I plan to.

Wapiti, that's the pattern I'd LOVE to have, but as you said it's no longer available. Sniff. I tried to get evening stand brown in an extra large yesterday(thought it would look good sitting in a pine thicket) but it was out of XL. Drag.
SO I got some shafts from Big Jim today instead lol. I'll just stick with my LaClair Longhunter shirt though it's too warm for early season. I'll get a GFA one eventually.
None really break up your outline and deer don't see the colors, so it doesn't really matter. They are great for comfort, warmth and function.

As far as the weight of the material, it does vary with the pattern. Best to call Teresa and discuss with her. I just got a timber ghost vest a few weeks ago (the lightest weight I think - course I'm in TX) and it is great. I might be able to justify a pullover next year...

I just emailed back and forth with Teresa about that very subject, and this is the reply I got:
" Most of my plaid wool is 20 oz. I will have the Timber Ghost in 16 oz. and 20 oz. this winter. The solid brown and gray is about 26 oz. The olive drab is 18 to 20 oz. "
how about the macinaw versions is that like a filson double macinaw (sp?) so maybe its doubled with the 20oz?
I like to take a wool pullover and put one of the wool vest over it. 40 + ounces of wool for less than $100! Try to duplicate that for the cost!
I like the northwest plaid far more than I thought I would...a very dark red and black pattern.
Still don't know how the neck raw hide strings are supposed to be used. I don't see it in any pictures.
