Title: Pronghorn Bow String
Post by: MnFn on August 31, 2010, 08:48:00 AM
I am wondering what type and size of string is recommended by Pronghorn Bow Co. for a one piece 60" longbow, 56#? Currently it has an 8 strand 450+ on it, but I know that is an aftermarket string.

I tried calling Mr Melland, but could not get   through to him. I am sure he is very busy now, so am hoping a Pronghorn bow owner could help me out.
Thanks, Gary

Gary, I believe all Herbs bows come with a flemish fast flight string. I'm waiting on a T/D pronghorn that was mailed yesterday and I'm planning on having a SBD bowstring made for it. Fred

Herb is currently using flemish D-97 12 strand strings on all his bows.

On a lot of his bows, all the ones I have for sure, you need a slightly longer string. As much as an inch.

I am using a string made for a 62" bow on my 60" pronghorn.

I'll 3rd the long string thing...I had "heydeerman" on here make up a string for my buddy's 66 inch PH...of course I didnt bother to get a length from my buddy on the actual string...and it was short...Jim swapped out the string for us with a longer one....all with a smile!  Good guy!

Me too. I use 58" actual length strings on my 60" 3 pc. I get just the right amount of twists I like. I've been using D97, Skinny or normal both work well. I get mine from Josh (Oliverstacy), a sponsor. Great strings, great price, and he's fast if that's critical to you.

Thanks very much for the responses. Particularly about the string length relative to Pronghorn bows. That was very helpful, and much appreciated.
