Pretty! Thought the Appalachian Trail ended in Georgia and started in Maine. :) Bet you could find a brookie or smallmouth in there.

I haven't been there in years....but the last time I was there it was destroyed with hog sign.
There was a cool misty breeze coming off the falls let me tell ya.

I hear ya.....not sure what is the start and what is the end....but I have read two different books written from folks that have hiked the whole trail in one season. And from what I gather, most start here in GA in the spring when it still froze over in Maine and try to to get to Mt Katahdin in October before it freezes again. I'm sure its been walked both ways.
Anyway, I wanted to read the book The Orient Express which was about a legally blind man and his seeing eye dog Orient that made the journey. But, before I read that, I thought it best to read a book from someone who wasn't blind to get a better understanding of what all is involved in the through hike. And I'm glad I read that one 1st as it made the Orient Express journey that much more miraculous.

not sure terry, but it looks familiar. ive fished up that way a bit. I lived in ellijay for a while. im just south of there now. I still hunt up there quite a bit. I will be there on the 12th early and ready.

Checked the NPS website after I wrote my comment, it says the trail starts in Georgia. Just seems like you would want to go north to south so you were going downhill. :biglaugh: But the temp thing makes sense.
I love the mountains..... to be honest I've only seen them a whoopin 3 times lol. This sounds odd but I think rocks are the prettiest things, We dont have rocks around here. sand yup, ocean check, skeeters big enuff rape a humminbird by the truckload, but no rocks.
