Well, I got home the other day to find a wooden crate in my driveway. I knew what it was - my mounts from my South Africa trip - summer 2009. I tore into that crate like a 5 year old on Christmas morning. I inspected them and found that they had done a good job on all my animals - except one. The Impala looks like a second grader mounted it. You can't see the flaws in the pic but it does look bad. I will probably have to have it redone by a taxidermist here. Oh yeah, I learned my lesson too. I will not be having any more taxidermy work done in South Africa. Here's the pics of my "spruced up' living room after the addition of the new mounts:
First is the whole group:

Next is the Kudu and 2 warthog boars:

Next is the Impala and warthog sow:

And last, but not least, is the Guinnea Fowl:

I've already made reservations to go back again next summer and can't wait to get over there and add to the collection.
I used my Sarrels Blueridge longbow (50#@29.5)to take the Kudu,Impala,Guinnea Fowl, and one of the Warthog boars. I used my Sarrels Bobcatt TD recurve to take the second Warthog Boar. I used my Arvin Weaver selfbow (45#@28") to take the Warthog Sow.
See y'all later,
Bisch

Awesome looking animals!
Awesome mounts. Love the Kudu and the Guinnea fowl, but all are great.
fantastic
Awesome!
Kathy and I had our African mounts done by True Life Taxidermy in Middletown, NY. I don't think they looked more natural when they were alive! They do excellent work.
Congrats on your hunt!
Mike
So how does Kudo taste? Don't say like chicken! Compared to say..elk meat.
What next on your list of animals to hunt in Africa? You've done well with the Warthogs.
really nice trophys , must of been a great hunt
Beautiful mounts. I bet there are great memories to go with them. I hope one day to be able to make a Africa trip.
Congratulations.
Gil

Travis
Looks like you will be needing an addition built soon...Nice mounts..
Congrats on your success! What did you do with all the meat?
"Congrats on your success! What did you do with all the meat?"
The meat gets sold.....at least with the outfitter we hunted with. That was one thing I didn't like about the hunt, we never got a steak off any of our animals. We got stews and such but no steaks. The food was very good, but you would think that, after paying anywhere from $250 - $1000 (or more) to kill an animal, you would at least get one steak!
Mike
Wow, very cool stuff. That stinks about the impala they are such beautiful creatures. If you get it re-mounted they will have to use another cape won't they?
