Title: BigJim's Thunder Child vs. Buffalo Bow?
Post by: Tom Anderson on August 25, 2010, 10:36:00 AM
What is the difference between BigJim's Thunder Child vs. his Buffalo Bow?

Tom, the Buffalo bow is a R/D Longbow in lengths from 58" to 64" and the Thunder Child is a forward handle short bow 54" to 58".  I love my Buffalo bow and wouldn't trade it for anything; it is very smooth, quiet, and plenty fast. I also have a 2pc Thunder Child on the way because they are also great performers just like the Buffalo bow and the shorter length is great for brush blinds and tree stand hunting.  If you're ever over here in the Winston Salem area you're more than welcome to shoot my bows.

Thanks, Kenneth.
Actually, I'll be in W-S in October for an annual medical checkup at W.F. Baptist.  How far are you from there.  PM me with details.

Hi Tom, like Ken I have a TC coming and just bought a Buff. The Buff is amazing and within one pound of the TC that's coming. I'm sorry I can't give you a comparison in performance but I have to say after a mountain of bows the Buff is my favorite bow to date and the workmanship is amazing.

Good luck....

BigJim,
How do the two bows differ with respect to speed, stability, smoothness, etc.?

I can vouch for the speed. i have shot two with similar weights and the same arrow and the speed difference was minimal and was not scientific enough to say the difference was because of design. I can also tell you that those that shoot it seem to really  like it. I have only had one in my draw weight and decided to keep it for myself and sold it at etar before I could even tune an arrow from it. I would say that the 56" bows I have shot from my 30+ inch draw have been quite smooth but also 30 lbs under my normal weight. I find all longbows to be stable and the thunder child is certainly that too.
thanks,bigjim

Jim,  I didn't realize you made the Buffalo bow in lengths over 64".  I better put these durn school books away and study up more on Big Jimology.   :goldtooth:
