Post by: groyce on August 25, 2010, 08:02:00 AM
I know this is going to get plenty of opinions, but.. I am going on my first elk hunt and want to be sure all is good. Is 550 grains enough arrow weight for elk? Shooting 55lbs @ 27 Woodsman heads on weight forward Axis shafts

Arrow weight search 1 (http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=082909)
 Arrow weight search 2 (http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=077150)

Above are a couple of searches that will give you some info from guys that have hunted elk before that should help you out. If you use the search button, there are quite a few more if you don't get the answer you are looking for.  Good luck and take lots of pictures!  :)
