Ian,
I don't know of such an article. However, there are plenty of threads, especially on a bit less respectful sites than TradGang (bowsite) that discuss and compare the merits of traditional over the compound.  I think it would be cool (and trendy) to use such a thread or series of threads to compare and contrast. Of course you'd have to talk your Prof into the idea.

Check out the "Campfire Philosopher" section of Traditional Bowhunter Magazine.  Discussions like that pop up... also look for David Peterson's "Man Made of Elk".  He has some chapters that swing in that direction.

PS-I'm an English Teacher and Professor at a local community college... let me know if I can help.  My time is tight because we start school tomorrow, but pm me if you have questions.

How about the use of electronics and traditional archery. The G. Fred Asbell thread has 7 or more pages of opinions you might find useful.

The article by G. Fred Asbell in the latest traditional bowhunter magazine titled "Avoiding Easier" might be an interesting topic.  He talks about.. how do I put it.. its kinda like death by a thousand cuts. He acknowledges how gadgets individually seem OK but when you acquire all of them or to many of them, it takes away from what it is to be traditional.  Your paper could be about how the opinions of individuals in a group contrast with the ideals of the group and what is best for the group.  Just about every archer has something that makes the hunt easier, but if everyone used every gadget the group would not be what its core belief says it should be. It's like a slippery slope ethical dilemma that has no solid answer that can be absolute, and as soon as you argue into one position you find that you have contradicted your beliefs, or the groups, in some way.  Might be a tough paper, but an "A" if you take you time.

Don't know if this will help you. In college at Chattanooga, (UTC) when I was there< I did a paper on the ethics of bedfishing for bass. I don't do it, never have and won't but it ended up being good. Actually my professor ended up asking me after my presentation how fish get into these new ponds around here. She went on to say that she had heard that birds would drop fish eggs in the ponds and I corrected her, which was  scary as all get out, and let her and the class know how ponds are stocked. I know this is not archery related, and if it gets pulled I understand, just trying to put in a word though.
