Gonna be in Phoenix area January 15/18 2011.Any chance I could maybe make a javelina hunt or something else for a short period like a few days I could stay over if this feasible.Any info or tips would be welcome and what is weather like at that time deep snow?????.Thanks Kip
I think most AZ tags are draw only Kip. You might detour through Texas and do the javalina/hog hunt.

The archery javelina hunts are all draw only, but there are many units in which you should be able to draw a tag with no problem. These units are not near phoenix but a few hours away. The only thing to keep in mind is the Archery Javelina hunts end usually the third week of Jan. So if your trip is after that you may be out of luck. The spring regs should be out in a month or so, and you can get the detailed info you need. Hope this helps
Weather is great in jan... cool evenings warm days in 70- 80s
Good luck!!!
:)
I hunted early-mid Jan this year and had a blast. We were close to Tuscon but there are stink pigs everywhere.
Good luck, they are a blas to hunt...
Kip, The spring regs. just came out. The season runs Jan. 1 thru Jan. 20. the metro units surrounding Phoenix and Tucson are over the counter. The rest of the state is draw only. Non resident license is $151.25 and the javalina tag is $105.00. The game and fish website is www.azgfd.gov. (http://www.azgfd.gov.) I would offer to help but I've been skunked the last 5 years. Maybe someone else could put you on some. I seem to see em before the season and they never show themselves during the season for me. LOL
the weather is beautiful. Around 40's at night , 70's in the day. Good luck to ya if you go for it.....bill
Kip: For the last few years there have been leftover tags available in most of the southern units. You can thank the influx of illegals for this. As long as that doesn't bother you it would be no big deal getting a tag.
