My hunting shafts are finally done. I did 9 with all white full length feathers, and then I got creative with the 3 that wieghed the exact same, and did my first splice job and then burned all of them. So I would have to say for my first complete full set done all by myself I did a good job.
I would like to hear what everyone else thinks.

as soon as I took the clamp off of the first barred splice, I wished I had done it to all of them

Thats a heck of a lot better than my first. Great job on cresting and splicing haven't tried that yet. Still working on my cresting. In other words. Beautiful!

I've always liked spliced fletch jobs but have never tried it. Nice work!
I remember the first arrows I made up that were dipped and crested. I lost one under grass behind my target. I spent waaaay to long trying to find that arrow!
-
Beautiful job. Can't believe they're your first.
-
Heck you could make me a set!
-
I'd say that there are some folks on this site that would put you to work.....if you were so inclined!
Very nice work!
-
If that's your first effort, by all means, keep going! :notworthy:

Very good work
What are you going to use up front?

Thanks for all the kind words. I even have plans of entering our Winter banquet's arrow contest, and giving them older guys a run for the Gold. LOL
I put Shakespear Silencer 137 gr. broadheads on them. I put them on the classified's on here, and got no response, so it was a no brainer. Don't know how they fly yet (we had a family reunion today) and I'mjust to darn whipped to get out there and give it a go tonight. So that will be tomorrow's adventure.

They look great

There's something wrong with them, but I can't quite figure it out on the computer, better send them to me so I can give them a first-hand inspection. Lol! Really though, those are nice looking arrows. I love to fletch my own arrows. I haven't tried splicing yet, but love the way they look. Very nice job! :clapper:

well, I took the hint from a couple of you, and went out to shoot them. First thing I noticed when I put on the bback quiver was the horrid smell still on the feathers from burning them. Next thing I noticed was that they fly awesome, including the broadheads. I have already started mapping out the next set in my head. I have decided though, that I am only gonna make 6 at a time unless I get someone wanting a dozen made up. It just seems like too much to make a dozen every time you wanna do it, and this way, I won't have arrows coming out my ears like I do already. I need to stop looking for them when I loose one at a rabbit or squirrel, and just learn to grab another.

Great Grapes!!!

Only one thing I can think of to make them look better...dip one in red from tip to nock!
Well done

Excellent job!

They look good. It's always more fun to hunt with arrows you made yourself. Gary
-
O.K., I give, SUPERB job! Those are ALMOST too sexy to get bloodied, but I hope you succeed anyways! :archer2:
-
:clapper: They look great Mike can't wait to see them with a bit of Crimson on them this fall
-
I can get that stink off of them for you. It's a real nasty job but for you I'd take care of it.
Nice work!! Your 1st's look way better than my last!!
My last was a long time ago when I figured out that "I Hate Making Arrows!" but love shooting them.
Magnus made some for me that you've seen in some pf my pictures. Bright pink (full fletch), they kind of look like they should work like a flu-flu but they only start to slow down at about 60 yds.
Great job to both you and Magnus!
God bless,Mudd
PS: A special thank you to Magnus!!!

I saw those the other day when you were shooting them into the target, and just figured you hadn't burned them yet. What is the reasoning to keep them full height?

Great Job,
How do they Fly?
-
Very nice, i think the splices make the arrow. Too bad when we shoot an animal that arrow fletch is done.

Not true. Wash 'em out as quick as you can and you should be able to salvage them. I have used the same two arrows the last four years and have 7 deer between them.

I've got arrows in boxes that have never been shot...that I made up over 10 years ago! Half-dozens help.........................a little! :D
-
very nice, good luck...
-
They look fantastic! Good work.
-
 Great work!
-
I left them just because they look cool, make them easier to find in the woods and will drop off, just further out than a flu-flu with more feathers.
God bless, Mudd

Look great. Especially the barred ones! I am not good with colors are those green? Either way look great.

You are much more patient than I. I haven't the patience for splicing. Great job on some beautiful arras. How do they shoot?
-
Very nice! You look like an old pro.
-
They look very nice, it's apparent you put a lot of work into them. Much better than average for an experienced arrow smith.
-
