Does anyone out there have a doweling machine? I just ripped up 49 3/8" x 3/8" x 34 " mahagony, and I don't have the required tools to turn them into shafts. I could use a hand plane, but maybe some other time when I have more time. If you do, and are wanting to trade your services for half of the shafts, and then you ship back, please either post here, or PM me. All I want out of it is 2 dozen, you can have the 25.

Try this thing. I use the 3/8" one for making arrows. Works well and is inexpensive. Good luck

I use the same tool. I'd just ship it to you, but you could buy your own for the cost of round trip shipping.
Clamp the tenon cutter in the vise, chuck your stock into a drill and turn em down. Easy peasy.

How does all of your 11/32" components fit on the shafts? I know it is only a 1/16", but when your dealing with small items, and detail, it all adds up.
Once I turn them to 3/8, a minute or so with 80 grit sandpaper ( and the shaft still in the drill)and then a smoothing pass with 150 grit gets me so close to 11/32 that it's no problem at all.
Might take a bit longer with mahogany. I know hickory and maple take a bit more sanding because they are so hard.

I just called the place that sold the dowel maker you mentioned above. This is the attachment needed to go into their dowel cutter($185). It would be a great investment when I get the extra cabage. Unless I hear from someone with one that can turn these down to 11/32" I will just put them in storage till I'm able to pick one up. I just think that 3/8" is just to big for what I'm wanting.
