Should your helical match your shooting style, be opposite, or does it not matter?
Not to be a jerk but there are about 537 threads on this exact subject that may be accessed with a search.
Guy
Thanks for that, but with an extremely slow internet connection, the search function is more aggravating than helpfull
okcaveman, decades ago,it was thought that a right handed shooter should use left wing and vice versa. We now know it makes no difference.Just make them all the same.A right handed shooter,I shot left wing for 40+ years. Two years ago,I switched to right wing.It really doesn't matter.
Thank you JimB for the truly helpfull response.
To a great degree, JimB is correct. With some bows, particularly small shelf long and self bows, using the same wing as hand can lend to fletch interference issues. I've had my hand cut by the quill enough to know. When I fletch arrows, I use the opposite wing unless asked otherwise.
Thanks Fletcher. So shooting a recurve with a large shelf it should be a non issue?
I use recurves off the shelf and have even mixed right and left with only a minimal effect on accuracy. I totally agree with the non issue statement above unless maybe you were getting into FITA off an elevated rest and then all you would have to do is tune the rest and use your choice.
Thanks guys for clarifying the issue for me. I am new to this stuff and just purchased some left helical arrows and i shoot left handed, had me worried i had messed up
My apologies, Colby.
If I'd known you had reasons for not using the search I'd have been more helpful.

I'm RH and shoot both LW and RW,and they shoot fine.
There's actually a very sound reason for using right over left or left over right: If one of them is on sale!!! LOL!!!!
Both fly fine for me but the right helical causes the fletch to hit my knuckle so I shoot lefts but if I can't find enough lefts I just turn the nocks n use rights.
There was never a flight issue or accuracy reason for it. As Fletcher said it was a clearance of the bow hand issue.
Yeah Caveman, you'll do fine. The worst you would need to do is raise our nock point a touch or shoot cock feather in.
I'm right handed and shoot right wing...
Same as Terry here.......
Thanks for the help folks. I have learned more on this site than I ever dreamed I would need to know lol.
Greg, no big deal, I understand how things can get old.
Both will work well, at least for me they have -out of all kinds of bows. I'm a lefty
Lefty and I shoot left wing.
