Lots of people hurting themseves out there; heavy bows, poor form, not enough rest, etc. etc.
How are you heavier draw shooters doing, 60# +, particulary you Hill style, swing/spread draw shooters?
I am doing great. Thanks for asking.
Greaat.. greaat...
I shoot a 67#er, no problems here.
78# HH....Working out with a 100# JavaMan...
HAMMER DOWN!!!!...Like Tim said....thanks for asking.
75# doing well and should be in great form by hunting season.
Im doing great, but I keep hitting my arrows in the nock and it's costing me a ton of money...LOL any help on how to miss.
Went out and shot my Shulz Legend last night, I shot good, it is still a great bow, but my release fingers are telling me I better stick with the left hander for extended shooting sessions.
Fifty two years old going on fifty three....shooting 82 lbs no problem. And I shoot olympic style with a hold at anchor :D
Brett
Bear Griz at 60----
Little tight the first couple of sessions, so I shoot about 30 every other night.....
Go in, take a hot shower and then lay on the heat pad for 1/2 hr.
Now just gotta get accuracy back, but it will come.
God bless,
Farmer
My 60# plus is actually a 57 lb. Toelke Super D. I am 64 and thankfully have no injury issues. This bow shoots 655 grain Douglas Firs a bit over 170 f.p.s. and is absolutely the quietest bow I have ever shot or heard shot. I can see where heavy bows would be fun but at my age I dont need to go there and fortunately this one will do anything I ever need to do.
I'm glad all of you are feeling fine, but I am hurting like hell. 10+ years away from the bow has turned me into a freakin' pansy. I am working on it though. No pain, no gain.
When I get back into fighting shape I am going to go all MMA on my bow and choke it out just for putting me through this. Stupid bow. Hydrocodone rules.
No problems here. Thanks for your concern.
I do most of my volume shooting with the lower weight bows. I make sure the grains per pound are about the same as my heavier bows so that the trajectories are similiar.
After about 12 shots with the 75# I find my form suffers a little. So I will take about that many shots at all different ranges, mixing it up, and then I stop.
No hanging on for more than a sec or 2, which is safer for the shoulders and elbow? Talking Swing draw, Hill style. Seems that with elbow AND forearm inline with the shaft would put less pressure on the joints, as they are not squeezed together or "back." Watched a lot of videos of Hill shoot, he never brought that elbow back behind and inside the nock as is taught today! the only time when it would go there is on follow through and "after!!" the arrow was already gone.
Snap shooting Del'egance, yes, but safer for the joints? Byron Ferguson seems to do the same.
Will be 69 come Christmas eve and still shooting 60 plus. Have a lot of aches and pains but none caused by a bow.
Two years ago after my second spine operation I couldn't pull 50# and I was terrible. Now up to 55-60# and shooting the best I've ever shot. All through practice.
The break I took for other reasons seems to have done me good.
I feel great and am very satisfied with my shooting.
Fishing season is winding down...I was out for brook trout today, tomorrow will be walleye... summer seems reluctant but fall is indomitable.
Along with September comes a keener edge to senses and a quest for flesh and fur.
Shooting 65#+ and feeling fine 59 years old for three more weeks. Had a little tendonitus, but that was do to cranking on boat motors I was working on.
