This September will be 2 years since this day, and it will be ingrained in my memory forever. Very few days end up like this. And before anyone puts the smackdown on me, it is a 7 man limit that took us a little over 2 1/2 hours. I got my limit with the bow, and the other 6 used scatter guns. I know I had more fun that day than all of them combined. Just to see the look on their faces when I showed up with a longbow, and then actually plucked one outof the air at 25 yards, was priceless. Man I want to go goose hunting so bad!!
I mean bad!!! :archer: :clapper:
Broadheads????
Hint, hint Grapes. Hahaha
Very cool!!
I just donated a hunt with the guys I always go with to the Michigan Longbow Association for a raffle item at the Great Lakes Longbow Invitational. It was for 3 people to be used in either 2010 or 2011. There was so many great prizes there, that I really don't know why more people don't come out.
My youngest son, Lucas (5), wanted a new bow so bad so we put $20 worth of tickets in the bag for a River Raisin 3 piece takedown longbow, and wouldn't you know it, he is now the proud owner, and has even started doing pushups so he can shoot it soon, although it will probably be a couple more years before he's able. Man was he ever excited. Thanks to all who came out and supported the MLA, and those who were unable to come and enjoy the comraderie, and memories that were made this last weekend.
Should have gotten that hunt on video!
I say that every time I look at that picture.
No Tom, Not trying to go to Michigan...just need to get off my butt and do it myself!
Us NY'ers really need to get togehter and do some goose bowhunting....now there's a "hint-hint" ;)
Very nice!
Cool!!

John
Curt, there's no shortage of em here. I used to hunker down on the bank of your famous Carp River and catch em as they flew between farmers fields. Some nights I would see several hundred.
Lots of good fletching there!!!!!!
That's a pile of good eating there! I know a few goose hunters that would sell there wives to have a day like that.
Congratulations on a memorable hunt! :bigsmyl:

The first 2 weeks of the Michigan season, September 1st-15th, is some of the best hunting you will ever do. I go with these guys every year, and our sucess is very similar year after year.
Jeez! Did ya save the wings?? If you used a Broadhead, were you worried about the dogs grabbing them?

Nope, when I bird hunt with dogs, there is no broad heads used. At the time I wasn't making arrows, but now that I am, I plan on burning some real soon.
That is just an awesome photo. Wow.
I have yet to do waterfowl hunting of any sort but I think you just encouraged me to change that.
Thanks for sharing.
Rick
You better have had a rubber fingered plucker to pluck that many honkers!
(say THAT 3x real fast in mixed company while eatin peanut butter!) :knothead: :nono:
wow now that is cool ,good eatin and some good fletching
Amazing! I love it when the stick and strings do it in front of gunhunters. :clapper:
Well-done!
I'm inspired. I'm in a little valley here that has constant goose activity since a few weeks now. Landing in the adjacent fields, ponds. Last week I'm on the phone staring out the window. 60 feet out at house height 12-15 flew past. I should have some pics like that. Well not totally like that as that looks once in a lifetimeyish. What a day! Thanks for sharing.
I'm not sure if it is legal in n.y. st.or not?anybody know?Anyhow sounds like ablast I want to try it.Nice shooting!
Cool! Nice job!
Well done mate. I love bird hunting, just a shame we cant hunt them over here in Australia with a bow. We can hunt magpie geese up the top end but unfortunatley its a good few days drive to get there.
hats off to you, good shooting!
The only thing that would make it better, is if you shot the bird with a neck band!! Did you?
They need to triple the limit on those damn things. They are over-running everything, crap all over. Most don't even go south for the winter anymore.
