Getting ready to put a blind out where our bear bait will be. I know open windows don't bother turkeys, but do bother deer.......What about bears? Will having windows open spook them? Should I have them closed or open? The blind will be about 12 yards from the bait, it should be interesting.
David
You have shoot thu windows? If so no biggy then... Keep them closed and bag a Nice Bear.
Having hunted for bears out of a blind, open or closed will not matter. The bears will know you are there either way.
If someone put a blind up in your kitchen you would notice.
Well David, I can't really say.....
However my friend,I like to be able to RUN if I have to!!!!! Being in a blind kinda reminds me of the time we had a bear rip open the side of our tent up in Indian Lake... We were all zipped up in our tent, snuggly zipped in our sleeping bags, when we wake up to this "sniffing" noise..... Next thing we know there is a 3 foot rip in the side of our tent!!!!! We all rolled around, scrambling for rifles and looking for shells, screaming bloody murder the whole time!!!!!
Looking back, I kinda felt like a "bag lunch".....
GOOD LUCK!!!!! Bag a Bruiser!!!!!
Hey buddy, Everything I've seen on DB vid's, Fred Eichler,Jay Gregory, and Primos has been hunting with open windows.
Good luck to you...how's the back?
I've taken them with the windows open and closed David. The only reason I leave a window open is to get better video. Most bears don't seem to pay the blind much mind but had two in Quebec this spring take definite exception to it.Also I don't leave the blind at the site unless I'm sitting in it.
Getting close now.....
Two weeks to the day Paul for us, can't wait. I've thought about bringing it in and out, but am leaning on leaving it. I know I am taking a risk on having it destroyed, we'll see.
Chuck I've given up running......he wants me he's got me!
It's better Curt, though I still have foot issues as a result.
Here is what was on the bait last year, and we didn't kill him......

Nice bear.
Very nice bear David! Got my sites ready Saturday. I like the idea of leaving the blind up. Might get a second blind and try it.
I really doubt it will make a difference. As others have said, bears always know you are there. Just make sure the bait tastes/smells better than you do. The only thing that really makes me nervous at a bait is mommy and her kids. She can make any hair on your head stand at attention real quick.
Woodchucker - "bag lunch" - funny.
Nice bera Dave, I hope your eating roasts in a few weeks.Good luck.
Killed my first out of a DB, used a net over a 180 degree opening, did not matter like everyone has said he knew i was there. I guess the carcass smelled more inviting than I did. Jim Pyles
I'm available to video either of you guys in tree above :) Doc
