Title: Antler Gut Hook
Post by: VA Bowbender on August 12, 2010, 03:33:00 PM
When you're out of work for more than a month you can get really bored.  I was at my desk this morning and looked at one of those letter openers that looks like a gut hook with the razor in it and I thought ...humm.  Later I went out to the shed and was looking around and I saw a piece of antler from a earlier project.  I got the Dremmel tool out and went to work. I cut a kerf in it and inserted an old Muzzy blade in it, ground it to shape and tada a gut hook.

Side note: it is looking like I'll have to go back to have my rotator cuff surgery redone, it might have come undone.

Thats pretty neat. Did you lightly glue the blade in so it wouldnt fall out or is it just slid into it so it can be replaced/sharpened?

I can take it out to resharpen but there is a touch of glue too.
