Goodluck my friend and Goodluck to all TGer's this season
Dave, I'm chomping at the bit! I just walked back in from doing my daily 15 arrows through the bow. I'm feeling a lot more confident than the past few years due to the way I shoot my bow.
Only 14 more! :D
Come on, twenty something thousand members and this is all that's excited?!
Well, 2 more days and I'm in the woods. Got a couple of real promising spots to hit and hopefully I can pull it all together this year. Equipment is packed and ready to go.(Been that way for a week now!) :biglaugh: Wife is practically shoving me out the door! I think she's tired of hearing me talk hunting 24/7.

Kurt
Sept 27th i'll be chasing bull moose in northwestern ontario!!! FOR 10 DAYS no less!
My season opens Saturday the 4th of September. After 289 pictures of possums on my one scouting camera I had 5 bucks -- 135-145 PY (10 and 9 point) in the same two days about 60 minutes before dark. I have a lock-on about 16 yards from the spot. This is my first year to use a trail cam. It would be ironic after hunting with compounds since 1975 if I killed my first PY buck with a recurve.
A couple weeks and waiting very impatiently!!
Looks like we're in for a decent year. Been seeing deer all over the place. I think the mild winter let many of the young ones from last year live.
Good luck everyone. If temps don't go down here, Saturday is going to be pointless. It was 99 degrees here today. I'm praying for a cool front! I envy you guys that can take more than one deer in a season.
TW, good post.... kind of got me thinking, I'm 18 days away from my elk hunt down in northern NM. I guess that's why when I wake in the morning and start shaving my neck it takes a little longer. My neck is all swollen.
Good luck on your hunt. keep the sun to your back and the wind in your face!
Thanks Jim and good luck on your elk hunt! I will be chasing them on the 16th-18th of Sept. here in Oregon. It's either sex in the unit I will be hunting.
Good luck TW! Sounds like you need a good water source, low ground and thick cover for shade. Kick the heats butt!!! :bigsmyl:
Alright here's my assesment:
Looks like your going to have good weather this weekend! I bet the evenings will be the best with the given moon rise.
Prolly stay out late in the morning since it's going to be up for a while. The mornings look fairly cool so you could have good movement right before sunrise. I would hunt thick cover with water in the morning and trails to food sources in the evening.
LOL!! Can you tell I am pumped for this season? I can't predict my own hunt so I had to mess with yours. :D
I think we'll be seeing some pics after this weekend. ;)
Arwin, I sure hope you are right. I'll be out there before the sun comes up and heading home when legal shooting light ends. Good luck with your hunt as well. Hope to see a P&Y buck on the forum. :D
Watched the weather this morning and you are right. Looks like it will be a bit cooler this weekend so, hopefully they will be up and moving. I'm thinking of camping near my hunting area Friday night so as to be in there quickly and quietly. I'll just have to see how tomorrows work day goes.
Still a month out for me, good luck this weekend. Looking forward to pics and stories to tide me over for a few more weeks. I've been shooting my Glendel buck every day and confidence is high!
Good luck TW, we don't get to start here in Idaho until Monday (which is an odd start day). If you hunt near the border feel free to push a few across state line for me. I'll be the guy on the other side of the river waving on monday :) . Can't wait.
Josh
Our Season starts Saturday Sept. 25 th One month !!!
Josh, that is an odd day to start. What's up with that? Unfortunately I won't be hunting on the eastern side of the Cascades this year but, wish you luck and hope a big'n comes by. :wavey:
We start next Wednesday :bigsmyl:
Best of luck to everyone and be safe !
Time to get your predator brain turned on! Good luck everybody, be safe and have a great time.
Shot my customary 15 arrows tonight. If the animals will cooperate, I think my equipment and I can pull it off. Groups are looking pretty good but, all I really need is that 1 and I'll be a legend in my own mind! :biglaugh:
Use the force T.W.!!! :archer2:
I am fired up more so this year than the last few and at 52 years old it shows that hunting is a lifetime endeavor for most. Deer season starts Oct. 15th here in Alabama but squirrel season starts Oct. 1st. I think squirrel hunting improves ones woodsmanship. Good hunting to all of you.
i'm headed to our spot this weekend tw.gonna see if i cant harpoon me a doe and an elk in two days hunting.IF ITS BROWN ITS GOIN DOWN. :readit:
I'm rootin for ya, Wannabe1! I would like to get my first deer this year, too.
We will be wating on the report of you first hunt of the year
Go get 'em! Be safe and good luck!
Thanks again everyone! I'm pretty excited to say the least.
Larry: Good luck and let me know what you see over there.
Safe hunt, bring back pics!
Bless your trail,
Killdeer :wavey:
