Sometimes all the cards fall right and a fellow gets to live the dream for a few weeks.
I've hunted with MO Sherpa (John Berger) and when he announced he was taking over Mule Creek Outfitting (sponsor)
http://www.mulecreekoutfitting.com/
I was quick to tell him that I wanted to help by being cook, camp jack, carpenter, mule skinner or whatever if he needed someone. It has come to pass and my truck is headed to the Bridger Mountains of western Wyoming late Thursday.
First stage of the operation will be to set up the "Headquaters" place in the valley just a few minutes from the trail head. We will be building fence for the riding stock and working on the building for a couple days then setting up "Base Camp" up in the Bridger Tetons.
John has to return to work (someone has to do it) for a couple weeks and his son Jacob and I will stay to finish camp chores and scout for the sports who will start hunting early September.
From Headquarters a flight arrow could just about reach the famous Rye Grass Ranch home of our intrepid Iron Bull. This is some of the most beautiful country imaginable. I will be taking lots of photos and may even make it in to the big city of Pinedale to a wy-fi site from time to time. If not, lots of stories and pics in early October when I limp home.
This is the time of year to apply for preference points for WY. Check out the Mule Creek site or send John a note if you want to know more about this - he may not respond for a week or so until he his back from this first jaunt. You may want to consider starting the booking inquiries for next year - or kick yourself when he fills up.
With cow tag and self bow in hand its westward ho! I got a good feeling about this adventure.
Good luck to you Shaun. Sounds like quite an adventure.
Enjoy!!
Lucky!

Shaun, have the time of your life, take lots of photos.
Shaun,
Best of luck on your endeavors. I'd truly love to do that someday.......it seems that "work" gets in the way of things like this for me.
Take lots of pics......and watch your "topknot"

You too Whip. If you scare em south and west I'll send em back your way - classic pincer maneuver! Those WY elk are gonna be knee deep in TradGangers.
Hey Shaun if you come through Cheyenne stop and say hi.
Shaun,
It looks like I will be in Pinedale until mid Septenber (been here for seven months already). I will PM you my phone numbers in case you and John do make it into Pinedale and want to meet up.
