Title: Nock Point
Post by: Matt Fowler on August 11, 2010, 08:02:00 AM
Just curious. How high is your nock point? My hunting bow is at 1/2 in. Last night I was playin' around with an old Kodiak. The arrows were scrounged from various spots in the basement and not really matched to the bow. I ended up with a nock point at 3/4 in. I was just wondering how high you could go. The bow seemed to shoot just fine.

Mine generally ends up right around 5/8".  3/4" is not out of line, and if it shoots good there just stick with it.  But I would definately find a good set that are matched to the bow and start over before settling on it though.

5/8"  off a rest.  Works great for me.

Put a NP above and below, and I'll bet you move down from 3/4's.

Mine was at 1/2 to 5/8ths until I did a session with bare shafts and they showed me that I should be at 3/8ths.  All of a sudden my arrow flight improved

I shoot split finger and most are at 1/2",but my A&H likes 5/8".

I shoot three under and although it seems to go against general wisdom, I shoot my longbows best at 1/8th inch. This is with bareshafts and fletched. Surprised me.

I always paper tune to see how my fletched shafts are flying and make appropriate adjustments but my nock point always comes out to about 3/8"...I also switched to two nock points which I tie on, one above and one below....
