This bow is very accurate,I rank it in the first 2 or 3 brand.Very quiet like the best foam/carbon limbed recurves and plenty fast like some of the best custom I own.It is a bow that is too often overlooked.
My choice is an EagleWing Standard D and R longbow. 64 in, 64 lbs. black limbs with single Carbon on back. I just have this thing for onepiece bows.
Cacciatore,I don't know how you could be better equipped.I have been going round and round about which bow to hunt with this year and I keep coming back to my Bear takedown with Rose Oak limbs.I have never owned a bow that was a better shooter and it is fast and very quiet.Good luck to you.I think you have the perfect setup.I hope you take lots of pictures.
Jim,me too and not just of my bow.....
Don't see 'nothin wrong with that setup. Have at it, good luck, stay safe and shoot straight!
Beautiful set up Felix!
If I ever had the chance to go elk hunting I would have to carry the exact same set up. Bear TD and Rose Oak Limbs.
Brandon sure builds a beautiful set of limbs. You Bear owners are b lessed to have him doing that.
Cacciatore, you hunting elk in Oregon this year? If so, how can you hunt here without bringing a Blacktail back to Oregon? haha
That looks like an elk combo!
Love the setup. I have the same hat:) My go-to Elk bow is my Bighorn.
Fleix, Love the set up cant beat those Bear T/D
The one you shoot the most accurately with. Hitting the spot is the most important part of killing an elk. I hunt with 55lbs in an R/D longbow. I draw 30.25 inches and shoot 584 grain arrows with 400 grains up front.
heres my elk bow for this year and many years to come.griffin l/b

Hopefully I will get to see that rig in camp this year Felix! Too bad you shoot from the wrong side :bigsmyl: I will have my new Bigriver 2piece curve by then.
Hey my friend ,I'm sort of in the same boat.I'm going to take 3 .My SA Widow,Super Shrew Deluxe and My big Jim Thunderchild. What the Heck! Whatever you take and you probably have more than anyone I know .You will make the right choice and with your beautys and the way you shoot you will be successful.talk to you soon.
Hey Felix I will be taking my long time friend the pronghorn.
Felix,what about your ZIPPER????????
The bow you shoot best.
I have myself had the blood drain from my body when a bull is standing there looking at you at spitting distance.
I once called in a bull for a total stranger from Texas- and I kept that bull coming in and presenting a shot; and the guy never did. I would have shot it if I had known his knees were knocking together; his gut was twisted; he had no sweat left; and was shaking like a rattlesnakes tail.
Don't laugh ( OK you can but keep it down) but it can happen to anyone- and bulls have a way of doing it to a person.
I think if I had a dollar for every elk hunter that has used toilet paper after a close in bull encounter - I could buy a new truck and a house with a garage to park it in.
So use the bow that you are best with; and practice with your knees knocking together; and you should be OK.
that is one nice bow you got there !
Good luck on your hunt - don't look at the antlers; until they are laying on the ground !!
I'll be shooting the osage stick in my avatar, but Felix, you'd be a fool not to hunt with that beautiful Bear with Rose Oak limbs.
The problem is I have to many bows in my stable. My project is to kill a animal with every single one,but I don't have so many season left!
Plus for sure I have my favourites. Most bows are as good as I am.It is the time you spend with your to go bow that make it your favourite.
Snag,I was planning to come elk hunting in Oregon,so the Blacktail would have been my choice, but PapaBear had some issues so we are looking for 2011.
2011,would be pretty busy for me because I want to join Steve Clandinin as well.
Ron,the Zipper is been the last one to enter on my man cave so it is passing through the most severe test.By the way it is scoring a triple A.
Schafer Silver Tip 55#s with 500grn arrows topped with a Magnus stinger buzzcut. We'll give it a whirl on elk, deer and bear. Good Luck
DAS Daala with 55# limbs.
+/- 60@28 Bighorn......if I get a general tag....didn't draw again :knothead:
If it was me Felix, I'd take the green stripe!
When you draw back on an Elk and think you hear someone whisper in your ear,'Shoot', you'll know who is beside you.
Having read Vermonsters revue of those rose oak limbs, I think they will be my next purchase.
I would have to say the best bow for elk is the one that you feel the most comfortable shooting. I would also look at weight as elk are big and have a lot bigger bones than say a deer. Good thing is the kill zone is bigger than a paper plate. Good luck and get some blood on an arrow.
Well, since I didn't get drawn this year ... next year (if I get drawn) I'll be using my '72 Howatt Hunter 50@28. I'm thinking I might get some Victory 350's cut to 29" with 280 grains up front, total weight should be about 560gr. I think that should do the trick.
Unless I buy a long bow before then ...
Hi my late night friend I know whatever bow you take you will be a great shot with it. I have never owned or shot a bear takedown but I must say that is the best looking one I have ever seen. There is something realy neet about those bows and it is the only bear I have ever had the urge to buy. I hope you have a great time in Oregon I wish I could be there with you but I am going to CO. I am still trying to get the bugs worked out on my new schafer silvertip. Those are some nice looking arrows. Widow AKA (DARREN)
ttt
I have no choice, I have to take my "elk" bow. 58" Super Shrew TD, 56# @ 28". See you soon Felix.

It is going to be a great hunt!
If you talk to Raging Water he has some #100++ stuff you might talk him out of for a week or two. :biglaugh:

I couldn't pull them back, but I would have to tote them around some of my compound buddies that always want to shoot my longbows.lol
Nice set up Felix, those limbs sure are pretty. Good luck. :wavey:
