The season is still weeks away - and I am ready to defend Sherwood forest.
Anyone else buying arrows; broadheads; trail cams; pack saddles ( whew ) and other hunting stuff to excess?
Sure, I think it hits us all this time of year. Getting ready and re-outfitting for the up coming year is half the fun!!
No, but the only thing stopping me is a trip to an amusement park and a trip to take a ride on Thomas the Train with my 4 year old. Don't have the money for both and I'm not exactly starving for hunting gear.
guilty as charged...just bought another dozen arrow shafts and wraps!
Not at the moment but always looking!!
Yep, every trip to the store or Wally world finds me buying a few batteries for lights, thermacell refills, canned foods and anything else for camp.
I just ordered new bowstrings from Black Widow, and feathers to fletch a half dozen Easton Axis 500 shafts, and a dozen 2016's. I love the pre-season!!
If I sharpen my broadheads or knives any more I won't have any steel left!!
Oh yeah, propane, I buy lots of propane!!
Our local grocery store has Chef boyardee spaghetti, ravioli, beefaroni, 10 for 10 dollars..I have to stock up!!!
Lots of canned beef stew......gosh I have to go shopping tomorrow!!!! DOH!
and lots, and lots of Spam!!! and canned corned beef!!
I bought two new bows in the last week a dozen arrows, feathers, tips and the same for my two kids. I have issues.
Pack saddles, eh Brian? Can I hunt with you?
S.
Waiting on some BH's and Feathers.
Yep i have 4 custom bows due any minute now, i can't believe they were all finished at the same time. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
This is sick, but Joe let me know if you want to let any of them go.
Work's been too slow to spend money on stuff I already have. :readit:
my motto for the last 12 months :
"use what you got"...
nope
Got a brand new 3D buck standing in my office which I haven't bothered to take outside. Still shooting the 3D turkeys I put out prior to Spring Gobbler.
Have bought enough shafts, feathers, nocks, BH's, and field points to supply a small army, and haven't had time to build one arrow in the last 2 months. And I still have 500 cane shafts going to be delivered this coming week!
Need to twist up strings for 3 of my bows, 2 for my Grandson, 2 for my son, and 4 for friends. Promised they would all be ready by next Friday. Guess I'll do 3 or 4 tonight.
If I had time to build all that I buy, I could open an on-line shop. But I don't. And somehow this doesn't stop me from buying more. :D
And to top it all off. Even with no time to build the arrows I have materials for. I'm having friends request I start building bows again. :saywhat:
Have enjoyed buying bows the last few years, and am in the market for 1 or 2 for each Grandson at present. But since I still have all my old forms, hoses, and compressor, Think I may just try to find the time to go back to building them again. Never know it may mean more to the grandsons if I make them rather than buy?
Just need the time! Would also make the wife happy if I would start moving some of my stockpile! :dunno:
I have been way way way out of control I am going for elk this year again on a 5-mile packin. I have been out of controle buying stuff for this hunt 8 doz arrows, 24 broad heads, two bows, new boots and backback stuff galor. I am not done yet. I have a problem! Widow
I just spent 300 bucks for all sorts of stuff getting ready for the season, only bad thing is I've already got another 300 bucks of stuff circled that I should order...do I need it....not sure! :)
Yep....two bows, dozen hexshaft arrows, new camo, new boots.....man....crazy stuff :-)
guilty as charged
arrows
kme sharpener
new bow
new knife you know last years knife could be dull
Been outfitting 5 new trad shooting guys and now two of their wives. I've been making, buying, and scrounging like crazy and have plenty more to do for the two wives.
Just put a set of Bashlin tree climbing gaffs on layaway at a pawn shop....
Hope they're not the death of me!
LOL - well I feel a little better :)
One thing I just seem not to do; is to scout enough. So; I made up for it by buying some trail cameras.....
The pack saddle and panniers and manties; and an over the riding saddle bags- set me back $450 - but... I just can't say I regret it.
And then there are some new wood shafts; and nocks; and oh good grief.....
Have to get this economy going! But trying to get my buying under control. Just too many bargains out there especially used bows!
Luckily I have a stock pile of stuff, 'cause this year aint a buyin' year.
Eric
My wife wont let me spend any more money, its not fair I tell ya............ :nono:
Sure seems that way. Problem is.. there is still a list of things I NEED .
ChuckC
Brian,I usually do,but with this economy,90 bows on the recks and a enough staff to refournish a pro shop I had to slow down.
picked up a used set of arrows on here, need a little lighter bow but hopefully will find a trade ...but money is hard to come by these days
Dont spend what you dont have>>>
I know I have. This is my first season hunting, so piecing things together has been fun, but draining on bank account :/ The final piece of the puzzle are some quality boots for a decent price. If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to let me know :)
Brian, you must be single!
McKenzie 3D deer, magnus stingers (another set coming), dozen xx75 1916 shafts, fletch tape, judo pts, and a KME sharpening kits.
time to stop
lpcjon2 : you guessed it !! :archer:
I just bought 4 pitbulls and let me tell you,
THEY are outta control! :scared: ;) :D
some of you guys sound like me two years ago. every year i would spend at least 1000.00 why i don't know, i already had one of everything and two of some. i'm retired and have to watch my spending closer now. iv'e only been married to my wife 3yr., i got my step-son into bow hunting. i made a big mistake telling him he only needs one arrow, the mistake was his mom overhearing me. being cutoff is bad enough, but being cut off from buying hunting gear just ain't right. be careful there everywhere. you guys know they only hear what they want to. :banghead: :banghead:
Define "excessive hunting gear". Is that like a square circle or somthing? Bill
