did some good scouting for new stand locations today with Charlie (CyclicRiver) and Tim (3feathers), had a great morning for it. found some awesome spots for stands along a deer "highway" and really got the blood pumping! one of those spots where you could close your eyes and just picture sun glistening on of antler as the king of the mountain comes through the woods. looking very forward to this season and hunting with great friends!
I getting excited as well.. Keep us informed as season goes along...!
Yep. Season has been open here for almost a month and I haven't been out yet as I got Alaska coming up and the "honeydo" list keeps growing!
After that I will be semi-local for a few weeks before a two day all-night-driving-on-both-ends hunt for coues in Arizona.
I have been pumped for four months.
Good luck everyone!
I can smell it the morning air.
I keep getting more pictures and more excited LOL. Can't wait until the chill is in the air!
My season has been open a week and I've been hunting as hard as time allows and so far, this season has been everything I've dreamed.
And this is just on my 20 acres! I've been watching these deer, day in and day out since last january and have been fortunate enough to be able to pick and choose.
I've got 1 yearling in the freezer and one mature doe in the cooler from this morning. Now its time to hunker down for the long wait for the big one.
Its been a great season already and I've still got 4 more months.
Swampdrummer your killin me man!!!!! got to wait untill Sept 27th here!!! do you have any pictures??
Went out last weekend stumpin and came face to face with a nice doe as I came over a little knoll. Got me pumped for the fall. Goin out in the mornin for a little more stumpin!
I've been busy trimming brush around some of my elevated stands, I have a tripod stand that blew over after standing for 20 years, also gotta get that up some day, have to put out a few more trail cams, getting excited just thinking of the upcoming season!
lol, Yeah Ken. Its great to be hunting now but ya got to know, Sitting in 97 degree temps ain't all that its cut out to be!

Notice the wet hair? Thats sweat at 7 am! And skeeters!!! That leafy suit does more to keep the blood suckers off than it does for camo.

This one was this morning. Sat till 8:30 and was about to give up when she came in.Changed out of the hot sweaty clothes before I went back in with Domino the majic tracking dog :p to "find" her.( Domino is in training, I'd already found her, but don't tell him that! LOL)
I'm not really complaining you know. But it would be nice to sit in a stand and not feel like your melting.
Of course, I'll be whining come December when its 40 degrees here to.
13 days and counting :banghead:
I feeling the crunch to get everything done and ready for the upcoming hunts, the honey-do's,scouting and gear.
Sept.15th here in Missouri.
I'm awaiting the arrival of a bow before coming to a final decision on the go to bow. After that I'll get as serious as a snake bite.
I wish I had my deal done with Loyd. I'd love to be able to move around the state and hunt some with friends and stay well rested while doing it...lol
Don't bother trying to figure it out...lol Loyd knows!!!
God bless,Mudd
some of you guys are just plum rotten. i'm sitting here like the last kid to open his christmas present.ha! i'm just joking. i love it when my hunting buddies get a deer. i live in ohio, season opens in late sept. i just guessing but is it really cold when the rut kicks in where your hunting? the best of luck to all you guys this season. we're truly blessed, some people don't even have a chance to go hunting.

I travel to Orlando a couple times a month and i can't imagine hunting in that kind of weather.
It's great you have already killed a couple of deer but how do you stand the heat.
Another thing is i have a friend who lives in Orlando and he does taxedermy work on the side and i had no clue you guys had the caliber of bucks you do down there.
Last year he mounted a 130in 8 pointer that was killed near the airport, beautiful deer.
I am leaving the last Sunday in August for New Mexico elk...season runs Sept 1-15 and I can hardly wait. The wife is taking full advantage of the trip though to get everything she wants done around the house first.
Waiting on September 18 and a new bow that is in the mail.
I'm all ready and no where to go,Well I have somewhere to go but can't go till October 1st, Good Luck Fella's,Hope it Cools Off,
Kurt

Informed? We can give you GPS coordinates!
A lot of good sign was located. Someone will have a chance at an Adirondack deer this year which isn't always an easy accomplishment.
Scouting and stumping is always a good time.
Wow I thought our season here in SC opened early (Aug 15)but,, when does it ope in FLA Aug 1rst..Therma cell no bugs, sit still and sweat , hope for a shady spot...The deer are really on the feed pattern here. seeing lots early morn and at dusk..
i would love and earlier season however i HATE the heat!!!! i really do not think i could enjoy myself in anything over 60 degree heat.
October 1 here in Michigan unless you get to hunt the youth or disabled vet hunt. Saw a huge, horse-headed doe near where we hunt yesterday so that was encouraging. Saw a small 7pt this morning while out driving around. Always fun to see those bucks even in places you can't hunt. Good luck all...
LOL Ken, Yesterday morning at 5:30 am it was 86 and just went up from there! I haven't seen 60 degrees since March!
Good luck Ken. Don't ride that hog to your hunting stand! They'll hear ya coming from miles away. Stay safe and shoot straight my friend.
I wont get to hunt this year :( looks like i keep practicing and get ready for next year.
Sept 15th until about Oct 15th is what I call "naked bowhunter season"...lol
A light weight ghillie with just your bug skinz under it can work great for picking a spot and not moving much so as to keep the sweat to a minimum.
It's that or stay home and stay home hopefully isn't going to be an option for me.
God bless,Mudd
