I heard the dogs barking about 10:20 on Thursday, and walked out of the shop to check. They were bothering a white jeep coming up the driveway--it had a flashing light on top with the driver on the right side--USPS.
This will be good either arrows from Fletcher or a MOAB from Jim.

The box was too long for arrows unless Rick messed up bad.
The mail lady wanted to stay while I checked the contents since the box was bent, so the pictures started in the yard next to her jeep. "Wow" was her comment as she drove off.

One of the hardest things I have ever done was put it back in the box.
Well, not too difficult since it was only into the house because moisture was beginning to get on my new stick.
Texas is warm in August.
I have to pause here and say, Jim is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! He hit my desired specs dead-on.
The bow is 60" and 51# @ 29". The riser is osage and bubinga. Limbs have curly angrie veneers.

I must say.. your MOAB was most definitely worth your wait!!
Looks like you made friends with it already too. Being a MOAB I know from my personal experience that they don't need taming or training. They come that way and filled with sweetness and X's.
Keep us posted when you get your 1st robinhood and the 1st game taken with it.
The only thing left for you to do is listen to your bow so you can learn its name.

Yea, Lamey, I have mixed emotions about the aging. Because I like osage both ways--really think if it would stop halfway in the process it would look the best.

Roy, I usually stay away from shooting many arrows at the same spot to avoid robinhood or even messy up feathers. However, in the second group I shot (not pictured), the orange fletched arrows started to shoot the best because they grouped such that an orange feather was ruined.

congrats! That really is the only cure. I still pick the moab as the best longbow out there made by someone other than me.;-) I am kinda bias though.

Bob, your right. I asked Jim to move the throat of his standard grip up approximately 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch and give me a little extra in the palm area (swell). He nailed it! :clapper:
Guys, Thanks for commenting. I have made a few longbows and bought a few more and never been able to shoot them very well or had pain in the elbow. This MOAB shoots fantastic.
I called Jim, and had to leave a message about (who makes/what materials are in) his stringers. Does anyone know. Normally, I put a dacron string on my bows but the loaner I keep and shot a while worked better with the FF?, and several on here mentioned that might be why my elbow did not hurt. Long story, trying to find out, so I can make duplicate strings to back up.
Nice bow! If I recall correctly, Jim makes them, and they are D-97. Maybe 10 strand. It has been a couple years since I asked him about them so I could be way off.

I was going to post D-97 but wasn't as sure that was right until xtrema312 said it. I am almost 100% now!
